      • I am fairly certain that October the 20th is the latest version:

        2004.10.20.playtest.part1.rar
        2004.10.20.playtest.part2.rar

Edit: Removed links, for a newer version of the Apolyton Edition look here.

          • Whether you have 1.1 or not doesn't matter anymore, this thing has anything that 1.1 had.

Unrar in your main CtP folder, I think - c:\program files\activision\call to power 2, probably.

            • Diplomacy

There have always been problems with this. They are still there.

I was beating the Vikings badly having taken quite a few cities from them.

I offered ceasefire in exchange for map - no deal
I offered ceasefire no requests at all - no deal
Next turn they offer ceasefire! - accept

I then offer to exchange maps - no deal
I offer a CITY in exchange for map - no deal!
              That's ridiculous.

Surely we can come up with something better than this.

I wouldn't exchange maps with someone who was on the verge of conquering me. Showing the enemy where your last remaining cities are is not worth any bribes they could give me.

                • except for not accepting your first ceasefire, i really didnt see much with that exchange. now alliances (which is hard to code) thats an issue...

                    • Warlord,
Did you get part 1 AND part 2? Upon casual observation, the first few files appear to be the same, but there are great differences between part 1 and part 2. There are many more TGA files in part 1. I have play tested it and found that it works very well so far.

Hats off to the many people who are hammering out the code. Eventually, there will be a simpler way to get it. But for now, the rar files seem to be the best we can do. The fact that two rar files are needed attests to the work that is being poured into this project.

Welcome Abdul Alhazred, don't worry about the names in the second rar file, though the names are similar the files inside are not. Just unzip the whole lot into your CtP2 folder and click "yes to all" when you are asked whether you want to replace the files or not (if the software does not ask this question, it means that you have not unzipped the files in the right folder).

After this, go here and download the zip file holding all the latest French strings. Unzip the files in the French folder that should be in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data and replace the files here.

                            Have fun!

Because this is left to the player's own stupidity. Maybe we should add a player's stupidity protection.
