    • well stop rapeing mother nature and be nicer to the planet then?

but seriously, i never really have a problem with pollution as i build most of the happiness wonders or buildings as i can.
And i dont find i need to place mines everywhere to be able to out produce and beat the AI, besides it looks ugly

      • nah... only like 4 mines to a city... just city sizes ~24 with factories and oil refineries...

32 cities... collecting 14,000+ production total

Well this is a problem to find the best way to transport a stack from continent A to continent B. Obviously the test a lot of possibilities but doesn't find the right solution. This problem comes into play when the AI declares war on another civ on another continent. When the AI needs to transport a lot of units.

          • where's the code located on it? I'm pretty good at poking my way through code and simplifying things...

and I have some time to take a look at it

maybe you can post it or zip it or something?

edit: nevermind they are in the gamedata folder....

            edit 2:

um... nevermind the first edit... thats just the %'s on to do what, no scripts to send anything anywhere or actions to take....

            reading in forums...

            • Welcome LStanley,

You can find the code in the CtP2 Directory.

              • opps - yeah hi LStanley and welcome

I'm wondering if some of the things your finding could be related to the speed of your pc? I'm not sure what set-ups other people play it on, but mine is dead slow - just about the minimum requirements on the game box.

I know many older games play up on faster/newer pc and operating systems. Does CTP2 have the same kind of problems? or are these just regular CTP2 bugs LStanley is finding?

                • Great Library error

                  Hi. Never posted here before.

I'll have you all know, I discovered this "Source Code Project" a couple weks ago. I went and found CTP2 for sale, just so I could play. Having the source in the hands of the community means that this will be the greatest civ game ever. (I've played a little... so far I'm still more a civ3 fan, but I know CTP2 Aployton, or whatever it's called, will be better.)

Anyway, I found what seems to be an error in the Great Library. I was playing-- sorry, 'playtesting'-- and I clicked on 'Arena' in the build manager to get a description. Then I clicked on the great library to get more info. The GL said the Arena needs Concrete, which I didn't have yet. In the (Research manager?) when concrete was available it did not list the Arena as an option....
So I assume that the list in the research menu is generated from the actual in game requirements and the GL simply has the wrong info.

                  version is 2004.10.20.playtest

was this the right thread for this type of report? I know it's not really a bug, but it's something that needs correcting.

Is there a bugzilla or something similar playtesters should be using?
I generally try to avoid signatures: they are nothing but a waste of space!

                  • Nice catch . The Arena and Aquaduct prerequisites in ctp2_data\default\gamedata\buildings.txt are swapped w.r.t. the respective great library entries. The game will use the buildings.txt entries, so you will have Arenas available with Masonry, and Aquaducts with Concrete.

Using this thread to report this kind of things is fine, as there is no fault tracking system available yet. A couple of months ago, there were efforts to start up something at Apolyton, but I haven't seen any status updates on it for quite awhile.

And who was the addressed individual in your opinion and the individual he should have addressed to. Well I don't know. Maybe everyone who reads this thread.

Anyway MSVCP70.DLL sounds like a file required for programmes compiled by VC++ 7.0 compiler. Are you sure that it is MSVCP70.DLL, because I only find an mscvp70.dll or an msvcp70.pdb in the list of redristributable files. Anyway you can find it in the internet, by using google to find a file searching engine, or to find it directly. Well since I found a MSVCP70.DLL, but no mscvp70.dll it is M$' fault and just a typo. So I have attached it including another dll you might need.

                              • Nice one. I just enslaved a big town of 9 people using the capture city options. Have you seen how fast it goes. Now the slavers don’t have time to become visible before the code is executed and there killed off.
