Since people seemed to be interesting in part 1, please note that part 2 of the FoA interview Solver had with me was posted this weekend: http://apolyton.net/misc/interviews/...cutus2-1.shtml

thats nearly a book - you two must have been having fun

Excellent points in the computer game design section

I enjoyed egypt too (well except for all the guys trying to sell me stuff i didnt want ) I spent new years eve(1990) watching the sun rise from the top of the great pyramid, it was bloody freezing

And i'm slightly disapointed that you didnt pick England for a quarter final spot in euro 2004 (just joking of course)

nice work both Solver and Locutus

Well I was certainly having fun! Mind you, if I actually anwered everything that Wouter said with my counter-points or questions, then it would be the size of the Complete C++ reference .

              So long for now

I haven't been able to do much on the project lately because I've been completely bogged down in real life: I'm moving back to Canada. I'll probably be preoccupied for some time but as soon as I can I'll be back to programming.

In the meantime, here's a little something new to look forward to when I get a chance to finish it off (turns to next pop):

Never has the figure 1 excited me so much. We will also see it in the city manager? Okay ill leave you to it.

edit: actually probably the first goal against france for 1-0 but that turned out to be pretty sickening.

Sorry for the late answer but real life has also bogged me down this week.

I hope we will hear from you again very soon Peter.

I wish you all the best for your move back to Canada and may real life release its grasp on you.

I'll have anything with rum in it!!!

Just out of interest peeps, do any of us have any great wishes that were dashed in the face of new releases?

I ask cos of the project in which many of you have taken it in your own hands to try to make CTP2 the game that it should have been in the first place, and then some.

I have to say that at first I was really impressed with CTP2, until I realised that for five-thousand years I had never once actually had an AI stack attack any unit or city of mine, NOT ONCE!! I was so frustrated I could have cried, cos CTP2 felt like a backstep in all but name. CTP is NOT Civ, it is its own franchise with its own feel, and I felt that CTP2 was torn between its predecessor and the Sid Meier games.

Well most of the modded games i've played fixed this to a greater or lesser extent(WAW mod was the greater, Med Mod the lesser and the others like Cradle, SAP and Good Mod in the middle).

So play a modded game - you will get attacked

Unfortunatly we did not much with the AI, we improved the path finding that also helps the human player and made sure that the AI does not continue to achieve goals that have become invalid, for instance to continue to attack a city although that city has been destroyed.

Unfortunatly the AI cannot do cross water invasions, and that is also true for mods therefore you should play on huge landmasses. And of course with mods.
