I just came across Civ2's source code petition

Lots of 'add me to the list of petitioners' posts but I could not find anything else.

Don't count on there ever being anything else. The former design team told fans ages ago that the code no longer exists (much like the CtP1 code). Some fans are just stubborn

well........maybe it will help people accept that CTP2 and the source code project IS the only hope for getting that perfect historic based TBS game?

has any involved with the source code code run across the graphics section that correlates to the civ-shield for units.
I'm taking about the color changing shield you use next to units and the medal to. is it in a zfs file or a tga or hopefully a sprite? can it be edited? (I'd like to make it into a large flag)

It looks like these are in ctp2_data\default\graphics\pictures. The program tries to find files upc006.tga (flag) and upc047.tga (veteran medal) in this directory. When not found, it searches pic565.zfs for upc006.rim (flag) and upc047.rim (veteran medal).

Just to say a big thanks to the guys that are continuing in their efforts with the source code, the regular guys like Fromafar, Martin, Peter(when he's computerised again), Flinx and all the others that have been inspired(brave enough!) to look 'under the hood' of this game and fix it

I know your efforts are keeping CTP2 on my harddrive and one day we'll have the best tbs game there is, especially as not many get made these days.......anyway thanks guys - i never know what the hell your all exactly talking about in those source code threads, but its appriciated by us laymen

You are right Child of Thor, they will never be praised enough.

A friend of mine have reported a possible bug. It seems that a Corporate Branch unit can create a franchise across the ocean when the unit is placed on the coast. I have not yet tried to reproduce the bug and will do so as soon as I can.

and of course in CtP1 and 2 the specialist is

 POP_FACTORY_GRUNT				"Laborer"

I think that even that flag might not do anything, and already be a leftover of an earlier version of CTP1, because each record in pop.txt also specifies a building which allows that type of population.

The forum is rather quiet, and I am among the culprit these days, though I think it is going to be more active as the people comes back from holidays and survives the first week back at work.

I seem to spend most of my time these days in the other games forum(mostly 'name the game'), but i always check in here to see how things are going - there's not much i can do here while the code wizards play with fixing the code

Still i'm 90% convinced CTP2 will be the last commercialy produced hope of the TBS fan - its just going to take time untill all the bugs and broken bits are fixed

So where is the one year anniversary party? I'll be the first to admit that since the code came out I'd say I came back to ctp2 and away from civ3
