  • Still play Call to Power 2

Cant wait for the new patch -but from the many posts I have been reading this will be much more.

This has been done with a game called -Hearts of Iron-put out by Paradox. They put out a platinum verison. Like CtP2 it had a very weak ai but by many mods the game was improved so much, Paradox rereleased the game with the mod work. Only costs 20 dollars. I think the mod work in CtP2 is on the same level. Too bad a gem of a game will go to waste . If only this game could be given one more reprint to go with the mod work and patch update . If not ,I hope the news of a new patch is on all the game sites. For my part I will bring the game up in other game fourms.

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

        • Your Right

I think many of the game designs in Ctp2 have been used in other games. After playing Civ3 and all the add ons that followed had to come back to CtP2. Ever game has its on story like a mini drama of history. But I use many of my own( in house rules) and small tweaks to the text files. Like using gold to buy energy-rules for declaring war(casus belli) and others. I will have to make a thread on House Rules to compare notes.

I thought that was just a civ2 copy with worse graphics? Although I did play freeciv every day at work at one point, mainly because it played in a window and CtP2 doesn't.

Program in stacked combat and public works and I'll be over there in a flash.

Good - of course i didn't mean to offend all the great projects going on here

maybe i should have added the word 'commercialy produced' in there somewhere?

                          • Anyone have any suggestions for C++ learning resources?

I found the April 2003 edition of The Complete C++ Training Course at a local bookstore and the 2000 edition on eBay for about 60% less.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this C++ resource or any other?

                            • I have one book by Deitel (Deitel & Deitel, even) about Java and it's my worst book buy ever. Then again, it's a book very much aimed at non-programmers and I was already a proficient programmer when I bought the book (or rather was forced to buy it by my uni, I'd never have bought it for myself). So if you're completely new to programming, that book might be just what you're looking for. Don't count on it being a useful refererence guide though; if it's anything like my Java book, it'll just be useful for learning the language. You'll probably want to buy a seperate book for reference purposes (in which case I can recommend The C++ Programming Language by Bjarne Stroustrup, the creator of C++ -- also a good book to learn C++ by, but I would only recommend it if you already have some programming experience).
