I'm not 100% sure, but I think you need less than a full 12 stack for your Generals to collect POWs
This is the case most of the time. I have seen POW's appear in a tile next to my 12-stack army, but most of the time, I get the POW message but not the POW's themselves. In the ancient era, I usually have a supply weagon that is left behind when attacking, so my stack is automatically reduced to 11, but from the middle ages onward, when you only have 2 supply weagons left, this 'bug' really becomes apparent (I usuallly attack with 12 combat units then).

Well 12 is not always necessary, If we are hunting barbs surely we do not need it.

Exactly. Early game (before any real wars), use a General w/9 or 10 troops to hunt barbs. Any POWs (always weak units) get sent back to use as free Early Warning pickets, or as cannon fodder in your first "real" battle.

2500 B.C Changed the build queue of a number of cities from apothecaries to nomads for settlement building purposes. Found a bit of gold in ruins. Turned the migrant group around because I’m fairly sure a settlement requires a nomad and the good needs to be within the national borders.

2480 B.C A princess is born! Started the Temple of Solomon in Skikda, there is little chance of completion but it can be used as a prebuild for another wonder. We find a bit of gold in a ruin.

2460 B.C We find some more gold in another ruin. We disband a migrant in Kumma for +1 pop.

2420 B.C We convert the capitol city of the Macedonians to our glorious religion! We also gain the advance of Brick Making for disbanding a nomad on some buffalo.

2400 B.C We finish researching Bronze Working and begin to research City State (17 turns). We acquire the advance of Trade from the Macedonians through religious conversion!

2380 B.C We finish a fishing fleet in HS II that we can’t use??.

2360 B.C WAR!!!!!. A lone spearman is attacked unproved by a Viking Heavy Spearman. Our forces are of course victorious.

I attempt to convert/vassalize the city of Nicaea into our empire, the citizens reject our faith.

2320 B.C I give 500 gold to the Macedonians because they are with us.

2300 B.C We exchange maps with the Macedonians and the Arabians. We gain the advance of Water Lifts by disbanding a nomad on cotton.

2280 B.C. Our Patriarch is killed trying to convert a Macedonian city to our faith ;. We create an embassy in the Arabian empire. We gain the advance of Currency by disbanding a nomad on an elephant. I give 500 gold to the Arabs who are mad we encroached into their territory.

2240 B.C We kill a barb unit and get +1 slave in Sabha as well as prisoners of war.

2220 B.C Nicaea is ours for the cost of 7000 gold! I have to hold festivities to keep everyone happy… Nicaea has a forge and a ziggurat, brings two goods into our borders, and is along the mountain range. We also make a withdraw agreement with the Byzantines.

                    Game Notes:
*Our horseman/horse archer army is almost complete.
*There have been a few barbs invading from the south..so watch out
*About half the cities are building nomads, the first 4 built should be saved for city state.
*The Vikings have killed a number of our explorers, however there appears to be no immediate threat.
*Happiness may be an issue for the next player, losing a patriarch is -2 happiness until we get I new one I believe. Also, Pollution is starting to become an issue .

                        • 2200BC - The house of E comes to lead the Nubians

2160BC - 3 nomads built and one horseman built, try to send diplomat to incans but blocked

2120 - Holy men across our empire thwarted a disaster. horse archer built. began moving Hammurabi's army to take on the vikings, though

they havent come near our borders yet.

2100 - 2 Byzantine slavemasters seen on our border. We send a fishing fleet on an exploration mission.

2080 - We discovered City-State and adopted it. The choices looked slim so I went with archery.

2060 - Nicaea was started so i planted farms that I should have done earlier. the Byzantine slave master keeps blocking our movement

north. Our emissary is trudging through the Incan mountains. Macedonians demanded we leave their territory but I counter with a map request that the rejected. And now they saw we cant support our units.

2040 - the slave master disappears and our forces go forward.

2020 - we emerge from anarchy to form a city-state government. Our emissary in the incan mountains has uncovered barbarians.

2000 - with a new city-state government, intrigue in the court brings about the fall of the House of E. The last monarch, E the Tarabulan, is forced into exile. In a monastary near Nicaea he ponders an ancient religious text know as 'the source code.'
