No worries HS, do whatever you prefer, I'll get this RAR thing sorted out in the next few days.

Thanks JB, I'm surprised I've never come accross it before. I'm assuming it's a freeware MS product so I'll see what I can do about downloading it asap.

Looks alright so far. Top of the military graph, we could do with a few more of those units on the borders though to see whats coming or to pillage roads and generally annoy civs.

Maq have you found that to be a good tactic that you use consistently?

I usually beef up my cities, and then take a unit or two from each every now and again to make a 12 stack for attacking with.

This is almost what I am doing when I am playing a 4X game though I am also trying to secure as soon as possible the borders in order to reduce the garrison in the cities located inside my inner territory.

Yeah i usually put units around the borders and explore heavily at first.

In our situation some people like each city to fend for itself and build only units and some buildings to start, but in this situation i prefer to build all my roads asap because they can be used for quick attack and defence on all sides.

Sorry for the delay but I had an unexpected visit yesterday that prevented me from playing (the culprit knows who he is ). Unfortunately I have another problem tonight, linked to the game though.

After I loaded the save, I made a Reloadslic before playing my turns as we did during the first succession game or when we played the DG. After I played my first turn, in which the Egyptians took and destroyed Isandlwana, the game sent me a message according to which some settings and options have to be set again after Slics are reloaded.

Is this a bug? Do I have to ignore the message? Has anyone received such a warning before?

Haven't come accross it before, but I'd say ignore it.
Sounds like the game itself won't be effected.

Perhaps check to make sure the settings you like are on, and just continue from there.

I have strange messages in the message section of the interface and it has always been recommanded to do a Reloadslic when you are playing a game saved by another.

                            Tamerlin

Could you try it over again without reloading Slic. With this mod you should only reloadslic if you absolutely have to.

What strange messages do you have?

OK, I will try it again but it is now too late to play as I have to get up early tomorrow.

I have made a mistake, there are no strange messages in the empire manager windows but there is one just after Isandlwana is taken. The message states that there is nothing built and there is another sentence largely overstepping the limits of the window inside what seems to be an overstretched button. The text also displays some parts were there seems to be an incomplete code like {gold[0]} (sorry I know nothing about slic).

Amahd Tam'r Lin the First reign will be remembered as a reign of chaos and war against the treacherous Egyptians and Canadians. But amidst the terror and the disorder there are some reasons to hope, we now have the mightiest army and soldiers are flooding our ranks. Our ennemies are about to learn what revenge and conquest are and they will soon beg for mercy.

2025 BC Peace proposals accepted by the Egyptians and the Canadians

2000 BC Peace broken by the Egyptians who attacked and destroyed Isandlwana
BQs changed to Archers and Warriors
Geometry changed to Bronze Working (defence first)

1975 BC Surprise attack by the Canadians easily parried by our brave warriors

1900 BC Iron Working started, we must have Legions before Catapults if we want to conquer the world
Phoenicians agree to withdraw from our territory
Egyptian attack on Kwena, thousands of Egyptians die for nothing, their blood is offered to our Gods

1875 BC Peace proposal rejected by the Phoenicians who accept again to withdraw their troops
The behavior of this people is strange
Warriors changed to Hoplites in every BQ

1825 BC "Sortie" from Pedi to kill an Egyptian warband wandering in the country
                                Hoplite Rushbuy in Kwena

1800 BC Kwena savagely attacked and razed by the Egyptians whose legendary cruelty is now tought to all our children
Hours of work per day raised as our people understand everyone of us must make some sacrifices
Egyptians agree to a cease fire
Wages raised to 8 per citizen in order to satisfy the crowds

1750 BC Xhosa attacked by a Slaver from an unknown origin
                                Legions started in Sotho
We now have a 12 units stack ready to hunt Canadians and Egyptians mercenaries around our Capital

1700 BC Korean Slaver killed near Swazi. Certainly ashamed because of their terrible act, the Koreans immediately agree to a cease-fire
Reduced hours of work per day in order to ease the pressure on our empire

1675 BC Shrine started in Tlokwa as the ungrateful inhabitants of this town are becoming difficult to manage

1625 BC A Canadian army of 5 units is destroyed by the ZEF (Zulu Expeditionnary Force) between Natal and Montreal at the cost of one Warrior whose glorious sacrifice will be remembered for ages

A stack of 5 Egyptians units is wandering around Swazi, Xhosa is our most vulnerable city in this area. Tswana BQ is empty.

The last king of the Tam'r Lin dinasty dies while performing Jabutu's Greater Ritual of Eternal Life.
