Free tournament brackets, management, listings, and prediction contests for sports, games, and other competitions from professional levels to academic to amateurs and everything in between. Create brackets for your own organization or host a predictions contest with your family and friends.

I think this is the best option since GT isn't playing. Strangely, it screws the winner of the extra game since he'll have to play an extra game compared to everyone else in the winner's bracket. The loser plays the same amount of games.

I'm going to pick seeding randomly since we have a number of players not active on the laddar.

However, if GT does decide to play we can do double elimination and cut out ALOT of games.
16 matches is quite a lot. Are you sure this tournament will ever see the final? If it is easier to only have 8 players, I don't mind being removed from the starter list.

Yeah 16 is a lot, even if it's basically 8 duel games. 4 duel games might be better.

We could split up into two groups which play each other, that would cut out half the games. However, one of the groups is going to have 5 teams, which is still unfair to one player.

Or we could split up into three groups who each play each other, and the winners of each group move on to the 'winners' group and each play each other to determine the champion.

              The second option sounds better.

The problem is how to deal with ties. I still have hope that GT will join us.

Have you ever tied a game? If so, how?

Edit: I see you mean in the mini-league. Just have a playoff, or record how many turns each game took.

3-way ties I am referring to. It could, theoretically, go on forever. Going by turns isn't fair because of map variations and players resigning.

                      True...

Perhaps two playoff trees of 4 and 5 would be better.

and how would you design the 5 player playoff tree?

Seriously the best thing would be to drop a player. Hatschy has offered, I'm also willing to drop out just to get the thing started.

Okay, GT has agreed to join under a condition that will probably become apparent later today. That's all I'll say for now.
