I'm running Win2k (still). As for the patches, it depends on what is already included on the CD you have. For playing PBEM you need version 1.2. If your version is earlier than that, you'll need the 1.2 patch. It's available from the Apolyton download section (if you run Windows and an English version of CtP, then the link is http://apolyton.net/ctp/files/patch/cctp1_2_us.exe). Additionally you can install the 1.21 hack (http://apolyton.net/ctp/files/patch/CivCTP121update.zip), but that's not required.
