The new map is attached here. There are 2 AI locations: AI start 1 and 2.
Players locations are marked Start A ... Start E, five of them.

Although the scaredy pants in me says that being in the middle is bad, the Spartan part of me says that it means I could branch out in ANY direction and make them all my...uh...friend...yes, that's it. Friend....
If I can't have E, I'll take A? Seems to be pretty defensable up there. It's too bad that the Alpha Centauri maps didn't loop north to south like they do east to west.Comment

Can we have a bigger map? I know you already had worked on this one, but for factions like Gaians/PK and such, a crowded map means it is war to fast, so the factions advantages are meaningless and thiss map is defenetly too crowded...

Nice map. Now it may be smaller than expected, but mart did say it would be standard sized in the original post. Perhaps the size issue could be resolved by slightly raising the player landmasses, that could be done quickly and give players more room to build in. I feel ATM it is biased for Hive, and without a playerlandmass size boost, i would have to protest at anyone changing to the Hive(i know your thinking WP.... )

Yes, I thought about standard size. We will have faster game and with more interaction, also less micromanagement.
We may go for these 2 options:
1- raising landmass, I can do it for all 5 factions - all locations A through E. Then Gaians would have more land to spread before fighting. And this would be enough I think, I know Gaians are strong faction even for war - a question of strategy, but I agree they need a bit more land. But then everyone would get more land - we have no Pirate faction...
2- T_ras may play Hive on the map as it is. Hive - to downsize it - has its issues. But it's all about finding right strategy.

I attached a version of the map with upsized continents, Now to be sure, it doesnt look as nice as marts map but it has more land. I reshuffled some pods to lower chances of earthquakes connecting landmasses.
If we increase mapsize or landmass size i would be fine seeing your switch to Hive. Its just that finding out the map will like formers and then switching to hive seems a bit unfair.Well Gaians are pretty much useless in such a populated map.
What else would you offer?

Im not sure if this is the magic pill we all want, but there is more room for safer expansion. Remember that coastal bases are a liability in a war or for probes...also the rivers need some expanding to fit.
