excellent-- and given that totsky often does not post here, its even money that the turn may be awaiting me (I can't check from work)

                    • Hey... well, that's true.

On a side note - I'll do quite poorly in this game. Not only did I lose an early colony pod, but for some odd reason I chose to explore with my early mobile CPs and built my bases in non rainy tiles, hence my lousy growth.

Just to be clear-- I'm assuming you mean that you planted your base such that it could not WORK any rainy tiles right? Because the characteristics of the tile you are on are irrelevant to the bases production ( with the exception of specials or rivers)

I mention this fact -- which everyone probably knows anyway -- for two reasons

                          1. I am trying to get more discussion going about smax gebnerally AND

                          2. This fact is a key difference from CIV2 where building on non-productive land was very bad. In Smax, building your base on the flat/arid tile is the quickest improvement you cabn make to that tiles productivity

I don't believe powergraphs and I always believe people downplaying their position are up to something deeper.

                            Yup, that's it.

The problem I have is that two of my bases don't reach the 2 nutrient surplus any sane player seeks. What was I thinking?

Sure. Like the bottom of the deep green sea.
