Hmm-- lets not talk TOO much about things that can show where we are. The main reason is that usually you don't want your opponents to know where you are . Frankly its poor tactics. While I have chatted a lot in here about this game, I try hard to edit myself to keep information generic. At first I wasn't even going to mention seeing a fungle tower but since there are probably a lot of them on the map, I felt it gave nothing away. Tactically, I don't want anyone to know where I am.

A secondary reason is that talking too much about where you are might violate the spirit of the rule against pre-meeting communication. If I said I see the believers border to my south, the believers may then expand their exploration north to find me with all the advantages that earlier meetings can bring.

do they just store stuff? or are they like a caravan from civ ctp ie able to take exra resorces to those bases that lack those things
It was explained elsewhere but itrs sinple-- A crawler brings back resources to its home base by being placed on a tile (in or outside the base radii is irrelevant except only one crawler or worker per tile) and brings back one type of resource to the base.

So you can crawl a rainy tile for two food or a forest for two minerals etc. Later when you have higher tech, the crawlers will find themselves being moves to mines, farm/condensor combos or to crawl energy

    • i am sory din realise it would violate that... but now i think about it.... i agree with you

i din give too mutch away just that i can see a border line.. all of this is kind of a learning thing for me

and i can understand that i may have made a tactical mistake ill try not to mention stuff like that in the future

oh and a map q is there special fetures in the map ie like the crash site, boiling sea and stuff?

thanks for the info on crawlers tho it is greatly apreciated...

No big deal really. I have been pretty open chatting about things but I didn't want us to get into stuff like " I'm south of x"

Yup-- the idea is to test yourself against other players and learn new things. I have played MP for about 5 years and I am still constantly learning new things or seeing new ways to apply something I thought I already knew

There are special features but you can never be sure which ones will show up or how many. For instance, on an engineered map there can be one monsoon jungle or 2 or 10 or zero. The crash site may or may not be out there and ditto for any other thing. In the interest of keeping things generic, all I will say is that there are absolutely some special features out there.

Oh another trick-- when looking at the map , zoom it all the way out ( is it using the x key?) and then zoom in just once ('z'). Sometimes you can spot some distinctive features among the "bumps" in the black portions of the map -- the garland crater in particular shows up pretty well--Others like the sunny mesa or the ridge can also be discernable depending on how the land around them looks

And the drones completed the Virtual World. I wanted to get the PTS though... well, i guess you can't have it with the drones if somebody else wants it.

Not in multiplayer. The drones almost never get the PTS. I find as the drones I just try to snatch something early like the WP or maybe even the HGP . If you go for them very early, you might snag them before others have even started SP building.

The only game I heard of where the drones got the PTS were where someone made the HUGE mistake of trading them ind auto.

I am just very very happy right now. I had thought about trying to build the VW last turn ( at great cost and with some unit disbanding) but decided it would take too many resources. It would have really sucked to build it in a turn and be edged out. It can be disgusting to have 240 minerals invested with no alternative SP to build .

Yep. I should have gotten the Weather Paradigm this way - it dawned on me in the turn i started building my SP, and i knew it was already too late by then.
It would have been a very strong start to start early with the additional Colpods.
And you got that and then also the PTS...

Heh. In 2144 I hoped that the F5 screen wouldn't show you building the VW. After i knew i'd get it, i hoped it would show you building it in 2145. No such luck i guess

Btw, while it's probable, knowing you, the bit about having no alternative SPs might be misinformation Perhaps you were unlucky with pods and got doc:loyalty

Oh, and did you find out if a hypothetical governors' position somewhere down the road will give you techs that 3 other players have?
