  • I did not know reloads were allowed to correct micro-managment errors. I have reloaded one time this turn to correct one I made. If I had known that was allowable earlier, I would have reloaded and not attacked with my rover in that early battle and would have one more unit for this attack. I think if anything I am one turn too late. I should have raised land at a different point I think, as now I am likely to lose. I did not know you could ZOC block with armored probe teams. That is a nice trick. You've gotten a lot of technology this turn also, congratulations to you! I actually think you could probably have defended this attack without reloading, but I've learned a lot this game and hope to provide a better challenge next time around.. of course, I suppose this is not fully over yet

    • Actually, we're not allowed to reload, unless all of the other players/ the CMN agree of course...
I ask you this favor because the first time I've planned all my defense around armored probe teams, and since they cannot be put in "Designate Defender" the whole plan is worthless... it's not really a micromanagement error, but more an error due to the ignorance of the game system... if you've asked me to reload because of this sort of error, I would have agreed...

I join here the first version of my turn: you can see that I lose a LOT due to this ignorance...

If you've tried to raise land at a different point, I would likely have stopped you before... so IMHO this was the best choice (but you could not kknow that...)

      • Ok, new turn sent. Oddly, this time it turned out better for you because I got two bad die rolls and so lost 3 rovers instead of 2 the other time. It looks like you're going to win this one.. we'll play it out, but congratulations! Well played

        • Lol, I've already played the second version...
          Let's try and play both!
It will be a great military experience...

          • Yes, maybe you've lost one more rover, but in this game, you've captured a city! (I did not knew that you could capture a city without it losing a pop ...)

EDIT: Actually it maybe got worse for you maybe because you did not attack with your 1-2-2 the 2 Tigers "protected" by a synthmetal probe (even if I'm not sure you would have won this), or the former equally "protected" by a synthmetal probe.
It would have seriously crippled my defense or my counter-attack...

You should have not underestimated my defensive capabilities... Going to a war with lasers against synthmetal is not a good idea, but when he will have plasma armor the turn you attack, it's suicide! (unless of course having a greater tactic and/or strategic position, and i'm not sure you had them here...)

You have destroyed/captured one city, maybe you will destroy/capture another... but is it worth it? You've created a land bridge towards an opponent who has better technology, better morale, better income, and decent mineral production...
If you will not succeed from taking me out completely on the first attack (or cripple me so that I lose 2/5 of my bases), this land bridge will eventually cause your defeat!

            • Playing both is a great idea

I felt I had to attack because the long term chances were all with you because of having the HGP and better morale. I had thought you were not near and so based my early game on a rather peaceful builder approach. When it turned out you were right next to me, then I had to develop a military to protect myself. I saw that you were building up, and I had just allowed you to build undisturbed while I had poured many minerals into rovers, then you would simply have won without a fight.

You are ahead in tech only because you made contact with the cybernetic conciousness and I did not. This was not random; you have better naval power. But this was not forseeable when I commited to my strategy.

Interesting. I don't think I'm going to lose as quickly as I had assumed initially, in either game.
