I think we need a restart sorry...
I will actually prefer a restart as well so I can play the first few turns differently from my predecessor. Sorry cata but your beelines and mine are not even close to the same

But I am quite clearly NOT on transcend

I had a size 2 base with a doctor and found I could have 2 workers working with ZERO drone control. Then I checked the SE screen and it was 24 ec for a switch

    • I went back and checked, and it is 40ec for me to change SE. I'd apreciate a restart too, several of the base placements aren't anywhere near where I would have placed them, nor are my techs what I would have chosen.

To be honest though, if we're restarting, I'd very much like a differenet faction. CyCon are definatly one of my least favourate factions, I'd like to change to the believers I think. Having said that, I'm willing to not change if the CMN says it's too much work to change faction for him or if you guys have any objections to me changing.

Do we need to contact Ouro then?

If a restart is needed ( and I think for a fair game it is unless you guys want to see me with size 3 droneless bases) I am fine with WHATEVER anyone wants to change.

I wouldn't think it would be a lot of work for the CMN to swap out a faction. I'm assuming our starting positions could allo be the same, on the theory that we all know a similar amount about our surroundings

          • Oh and I'm sorry I didn't catch this earlier but I inherited a faction with all size one bases and didn't think to check the switch cost

            • What I'm annoyed about is that as the Spartans playing opposite strong factions such as the Uni and PKs, my gamble paid off. I hurried scout rovers at each of my bases and by this point in time had popped monoliths and new units everywhere. I just know that somehow it won't go that well for me this time...

thats unfortunate. On my end I was looking at being about a dozen turns slower to techs I usually consider key to early development.

Also, regardless of you popping luck , I don't think you want to play with me having the university at two levels easier. They are not my best faction but I think I could do quite a bit having two extra workers before needing drone control.

I wouldn't want to play that way anyway. Win or lose I want to play on a level playing field

well i didnt know i was turning the faction over,or i wouldnt have done that,i wasnt playing very seriously. i assure you our beelines are almost certainly the same in normal conditions

                  • *Looks very very suspicious* I've never heard of it setting it down to 24 credits. So I took a look at the file I have. Nothing is wrong with my copy... Force difficulty and all that good stuff. So I played through twenty years or so. And found the same thing. Its beyond me why, but I'm sorry. So I went back and made it again, just to see what would happen (Just started the scenario again), and found no problem whatsoever. Very odd indeed. I wouldn't feel entirely comfortable using the same map again -- I'd want to tweak it a little, but I'm willing to try through this again. And check that this time If its all fine with you... I should have a little time this weekend, after all those juicy midterms.

I don't claim to understand it but I went back to the first turn I played and the SE switch cost is 24 ec. I do know that this is a bug that is out there that has occurred in games even with the most experienced CMNs. I have no idea why it wouldn't show up for you . . . All I know is that it exists when I play the game

                        • *Grins* I don't think I made myself clear. It showed up in my save file from this game. However, when I restarted the game, making a new save file, but changing nothing else, it worked fine. Like I said, my weekend looks free, so I'll see what I can do As for the bug, it usually shifts cost down one rank -- to 32 credits, not 24. That's why I said odd.

                          • there are variable SE change costs, ive seen them at 64 as caretakers in a recent sp game. not sure why.i thought it was a implemented feature that i just didnt know anything about though

                            • *Glares* OK, maybe I'm too lazy to really change the map. I played around with some stuff, and just didn't like the way it was turning out. But other than double-checking the difficulty thing, the other change was Conciousness to Believers?

I think thats the case. The same map is good as far as I am concerned. I figure if it was fair to start, its still fair. Everyone will have 12 turns knowledge of their surroundings and I'm ok with that too.

Oh and keep with the grins-- no need for any glares
