Yep apologies about that, new job started today, has been a bit busy. I'll play within the next couple of hours, but I think I would prefer to start a new game as the believers and advertise for a replacement here.

I'm honestly not sure how I missed the differences! The starting tech was correct for the believers, not the cycon, but +2 research is fairly majorly different to -2! I did notice that I was getting research already, but I figured that was something to do with the faction change slot (And in fact I posted to that effect here, although no one commented on it).

Still, I firmly believe the CyCon-levers have a great chance of winning this game from here, but just not with me at the helm. -1 growth just kills my style.

hmm-- MOst of your posts I took as roleply so I didn't think much about it but I could have figured it out when you started talking about tech discoveries. I just didn't think about it EVEN when you switched to DEMO and it should be obvious you were researching

I don't remember a post about the "faction change slot" . . . I remember you changing factions and just figured it would all go ok

Yeah that's sort of what I meant. I guessed that as the faction in this slot had previously been the CyCon, when the switch was made the 10 years of no research were somehow lost.

Even more bizarre though, was that I kept on noticing strange things like 20:0:80 giving lots of research, but I just put it down to a strange map size or something There were so many anomolies that it's almost beyond the pale that it took me so long to notice.

2114 to Flubber. Unzipped, for which I apologise. As I said before, my hard drive just died, and I'm on someone else's machine. It was all I could do to pursuade them that SMACX wouldn't utterly destroy their machine. WinZip would be a step too far

Not an issue-- the file is still only 408 K so no big deal-- I see the turn and will give my usual promise that I will play it tonight when I get home (7-8 hours from now)

Well I think we all take certain things for granted. If I were totally diligent I would have raised the cry with your first research discovery but to be honest I don't spend much time looking at the other factions in the first few years EXCEPT to the extent I can discern tech paths. I'm not a believer player so it never occurred to me you shouldn't be researching. This might be funny but if you had been the Droes, I probably would have noticed immediately-- weird huh??


Anyway chaunk it appears that senethro and I are up for playing another game where you get your believers-- we just need to hear from fosse on the issue IIRC but even if he can't play, it should be no problem to entice a fourth or we could just play a 3 way (could take two factionseach for double the fun hehe)

I took over as a replacement once in a game where they had amended the faction files radically and ended up as the believers with no research penalty.

The attack bonus was intact though
