Turn 2126 to Bearhugger. Anyways, what are the rules regarding spying? Do I publicly announce to the player that I stole a tech, privately announce to the player that I stole a tech, or not mention it all? And do I set my status to Vendetta? After stealing, I follow CGN rules and set my status to Maia as Vendetta. I'm going to send a private message aswell explaining which tech I stole.

from CGN's rules:

- If a player performs a probe team action other than to infiltrate against another player with whom (s)he is in a truce, treaty or pact, they must inform the probed player what it was they did and what they stole/sabotaged. They must also choose the 'declare vendetta/cancel pact' option when they perform the action.

I think apolyton rules are similar...

You don't have to tell us you stole a tech from maia, but I like that info :-)

Ofcourse, if you agree in advance to let the other player steal a tech, it is not necessary to go to vendetta. However, in this case you can as well just give the tech, but sometimes this isn't possible (ie: sunspot).

Well, I'm not going to announce or set vendetta during sunspot activity when I steal techs. But it wasn't during the sunspot event. I wonder if Maia is getting panicky because I set vendetta on Maia. Could be he's confused as to why I called vendetta on him.

is it not possible in multiplayer to frame another faction for a probe team mission?

wouldnt make sense then to announce that your faction did the mission...

my apologies, brother bearhugger, this has been a case of mistaken identity. It is obviously the believers and their unhappiness with their own zealotry that has led them to commit such an unscrupulous encroachment on our sovereign borders.

there has to be the question raised if this theft actually transpired as to what the movement looks like.
I spotted the probe right next to my scout and suddenly he has my tech? How did he move around me and make his way to my encampment in only one turns length?

Because probes can move two spaces except through rocky areas if I'm correct.
