              • Fellow leaders of Chiron,

                As we Free Drones have recently launched orbital space platforms, we now have a complete map of Chiron. It pleases me to report that all factions have prospered during these past 90 years. Archaic, Governor, and Provost of the University, has done better than most, in part, I believe, due to Free Drone-University cooperation. It therefore saddens me to have to announce grave tidings.

                Without going into confidential details, suffice it to say that the good governor has reneged on a tech trade agreement. He sites Free Drone troop dispositions (within our own borders!) as the reason for his malfeasance. He then has the temerity to try to barter troop dispositions for the proffered tech. He is apparently awaiting my response.

                I say he should have brought up this matter BEFORE accepting Free Drone tech data. We did not hold a gun to his head and force him into this. This trade was his idea. We ARE now holding a gun to his head and DEMANDING he honor his agreement. To this end we have taken punitive action. We have controlled and occupied an underdeveloped University border base, where I might add, we were welcome with open arms. A state of Vendetta exists between us and shall remain in effect until our demands are met.

                So far, no other faction leaders are involved. It is my hope that this remains so.

                • You damn stupid fool. Why is it that I can never seem to find allies who can ever think logically about a situation. Are you trying to accomplish a MAD scenario? What exactly is it you hope to accomplish with this senseless action?

                  You put those huge numbers of troops on bases within drop distance of my undefended, recently constructed border bases, after having made recent threatening comments about the state of my military development, and then have the audacity to go and do this? You've only proven that my fears were well founded, that you could launch such an attack instantly after having had your troop deployments discovered. If you had but pulled the troops back to a less threatening location (and I even gave you a prime place to put them, to allow you to launch an attack against the Spartans or Hive, who've already proven a threat to the future of Planet), I would have sent the tech long before your scientists could have completed their research into it, losing you no time whatsoever. Now, you greatly test my patience with you.

                  This is your one and final warning. Remove your troops back to well within your borders, beyond a range where they could possibily launch an attack on my bases, at once. With the access to my datalinks you have had, you know this is not an idle threat. I warned you before about a Pearl Harbour style response. You aren't anywhere near enough to threaten my heartland, and my superior industrial and economic capacity will quickly turn the tide against any early victories you may gain. Your quick and speedy compliance is to the benifit of us both. You only destroy the economic and scientific development of us both with your foolish actions.

                  • Provost Archaic,

                    We are in a state of war. I will not negotiate with you unless you turn over the tech in question before I've completed research on it. Failing that, you must prove yourself my equal in military might before we strike a truce.

                    For what it's worth, I had made preliminary plans for invasion but your skill at diplomacy and the benefits of further tech trading convinced me otherwise. In your stead, I turned my attention to Chairman Yang. I was looking forward to repaying him for raising one of my bases several years ago, but as you can see, plans do change.

                    • You are in no position to be dictating terms, as you should well know. My forces are not numerous currently, but my industrial complex and strong economy allow me to reinforce them far quicker and with far better equipment than you can manage. Your only hope in attacking me was to intimidate me into submission with strength of numbers in an initial lightning raid. You have utterly failed in that. Your best course of action now is to comply with my requests and withdraw, before you only make the situation even worse for us both than it already is. If you have any sense at all, you will realise that.

                      As for your supposed plans towards Yang...if you had such plans, you would have moved your troops towards his bases, rather than making huge garrisons of offensive troops in bases on both sides of my territory. You had a southern base, closer to Yang and removed from striking range of my territories, a base which I pointed out to you upon discovery of your forces. If you truly had intended to strike Yang, your forces would've been there already.

                          Hey - leave my bases alone - I'm neutral in this conflict

                          • I of course meant the historical Pearl Harbour. ^^;;

                            Visiting the family for Christmas, so I'll have to play the turn when I get back home tomorrow.

                              • Apologies for the delay. Had to think a bit about these moves, as you might expect.

                                The Hive and Spartans seem to be toast as factions. Their bases on the flood plains have been washed away, and they are now at a mere fraction of their former power. Sadly, their polluting bases were in the mountains, IIRC, so we can probably expect more and more sea level rises.
