      • 2176 to CyCon

Provost Archaic has convened the planetary council. The agenda is a Global Trade Pact which doubles the rate of commerce. The voting so far: Sister Miriam - eliminated, Colonel Santiago - nay, Chairman Yang- nay, Provost Archaic - yea, Foreman Domai - yea.

This turn really is different from the last 2175, but the MY is 2175 nonetheless.

Nay on the Global Trade Pact. I don't appreciate the lack of declaration or notice on the part of the initiator.

          • Yeah, I thought there was something funny about the MY on the turn I sent out but I couldn't put my finger on it. So, I guess for some reason, we had a repeat of MY 2175.

            • I've seen the error happen before, where the same turn year repeated over and over. If it ends up like that, we'll have to get a CMN manually advance the turn until it starts working again.

To the Cycon...give us a break. If you're going to vote nay, at least give your real reason. You've been doing all you can to stifle commerce from the beginning, and (ab)using your governorship to withhold information from the other factions. Not exactly the qualities one would be looking for in the supposed leader of the colonies.

              • Think what you like about my reasons regarding the trade pact - I need to guess about your motives just the same, since you were silent. We all know you make much more use out of each point of energy than the rest of us.

                As far as information:
You have full information about the other human-controlled factions, by mutual agreement.
If you want to know something about the Hive or Spartans, ask. No one has.
I'm not interested in giving away infiltration information. Specific questions I have answered. If you consider privacy an abuse of power, then the world would be much darker under your rule.

                • There's privacy, and then there's privacy. What you're doing is withholding pertinent information on your own faction, while gleefully taking that information from others, regardless of if they're willing or not.

I had another game inconsistency occur this move. A few turns ago I popped a pod and instabuilt a clean trace plasma steel supply needlejet worth (IIRC) 288 minerals. Last turn I had it crawling some energy and when I opened this turn it was gone. There was no combat report. Further, while it still exists in my workshop, there is no sign on it in the F7 screen I didn't feel this was enough of a problem to delay the game to have the CMN have a look but I figured I'd make you all aware of this just in case it becomes more widespread.

                    • I think (from prior experience) that noodle crawlers do disappear after one turn crawling (they crash)- they really are only good for sitting in bases waiting to instabuild an SP or an expensive prototype

                      • Hmmm, I was afraid someone was going to say that. It's been a long while but I thought I remembered playing an SP game where my noodle crawler didn't crash.....oh well, live and learn.

                          • Damnit...I've just recieved the turn again, and unless there's some mistake in the file name....it's 2176 *again*? We need CMN help for this I think. Normally, it wouldn't impact so much on a game, but here, it's preventing an important election.

                            • I think you've been confused by our inconsistent terminology. The turns have been:

                              2174
                              2175
                              2175 (called 2176 by some)
                              2176 (now)

So your election has been delayed but a single turn.

                              • A single turn is sometimes all it takes to establish turn advantage. I'm sure everyone here can attest to that.

In any case, I'll play this after work and send it on, but I do think we need that fixed up by our CMN.
