To be fair, LOTM mostly posts elsewhere now and has left me alone recently.

Terrible decision, both in terms of the drama it could create, and on general principles.

I guessed any objection would be overruled, but surely you must see how utterly at odds this is with any desire to have the notion of "family friendly" policies?

Considering that Asher has not so much as batted an eyelash at the news, I think you may be mistaken.

I've known about this for a while and expressed my intense displeasure with this privately.

I know, but I also know that you only pretend to give a ****, so why should anyone else?

Asher, I for one appreciate your maturity in handling the situation. I also appreciate the extra contributions you will be making to Apolyton, long time coming fwiw.

It would make absolutely no difference if Asher and Dale were now in a tender and loving physical relationship. This is about each poster's feelings about sharing a forum (and potentially their kids sharing a forum) with one who has an established track record in harassment.

I don't think it's a good idea for Dale to be invited back either but I do understand and appreciate the "clean slate" principle that Robert and Jeroen want to bring.

On the plus side, at least we're free to discuss it.

I think Laz is right...it is somewhat distasteful.

OTOH, I'm not necesarrily for the clean slate approach either.

This is Poly. If the rules didn't permit discussion of it, you can guarantee that it would be discussed at far greater length and with a lot more vehemence.

I made it clear in the staff forum, and will here as well, that I don't think Dale should be allowed back.

is the dilemma the question on whether or not death threats are appropriate for a 'family friendly' site?

whatever happened to accountability? being held responsible for one's actions? it's not like dale didn't know he was crossing the line, was it?

He knew he was going to walk away... He didn't really care what happened to him.
And based on his comments, he has no intention of coming back unless you ban half the people in the OTF... So why bother unbanning him. From a practical stand point, it's a non issue...

                                However...
Releasing him - pisses off some people here because some think he went too far.

Not releasing him - pisses off some people (who mostly now only post at the other site) who think his actions were justified because of Asher...

Either way, it's a lose lose for the owners. Personally, I would keep him banned until he sends a note requesting to post again, and in it, he gives a REAL apology and promises to behave himself. I frankly don't care about the "he was pushed into it argument"... because he did go overboard, and he has NEVER really apologized for it. If he wants to come back, he should act like a man. If he doesn't want to come back, then why bother changing his current status.
