    Yes.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

No need to get pissy with me just because on this occassion I disagree with you.

I guess.. but bit of a mouthful, isn't it? And if Other Games becomes its own category, that will have a whole lot of non-Civ games as well. Something we'll take into consideration though
If your going to do that you could go with something like non-gaming discussion->off topic. Assuming your just trying to avoid sounding redundant.

Gentlemen: what is the point of the "Civilization Series General" forum?

And why is the "Civilization II" forum listed underneath Civilization IV, but before Civilization III in the main menu?

I don't understand why it's hard to name forums.

                You want an "Off-Topic" category?

                Fine.

                Off-Topic Forums
                -------------------
                "General Off-Topic"
                "Sports"
                "Technology"
                "History"
                "Other Games"

The current layout of having "Off-Topic" as a category followed by "Off-Topic" as a forum followed by subforums is just retarded.

Asher, your arrogance astounds me, your rudeness astounds me, your immaturity astounds me. I would suggest that you learned a few people skills but I'm sure you would respond that you know all about that too, as you seem to be the font of all knowledge.

If you addressed people like they were human beings, and not some worthless scum to do your bidding, then you might have more success in getting your points across.

To answer your last question, even though I'm an unimportant person too, I found the civgroup badges useful when I first joined Poly to find out about the various areas of the site, and too discover what areas of Poly were being frequented by like minded persons as myself.

As Poly needs to attract and involve more newbies to keep it alive then I'd say this was a useful feature, at least to that extent.....

Please keep this thread on-topic, we do greatly value getting real input from our real community members on this issue. Any more off-topic posts will be deleted.

And so we're clear, ANY remotest insult or troll no matter how far-fetched from either Asher or Wiglaf against anyone else in this thread will earn either of you a minimum of a one-week ban (and anyone who thinks they're funny by trying to bait them will find themselves looking at the wrong end of a banning rod too). In other words, I STRONGLY suggest you two find some other thread to troll.

Makes sense. We'll consider that option too. The whole 'discussion' part makes it a bit of a mouthful, but just Non-Gaming would actually make a pretty decent category name IMO.

Wow, actually a constructive post (Apart from the insult or two, but I guess we gotta take the good with the bad with you ) I think I like flash's variant better (especially when leaving off the 'discussion'), but this is an option too. We'll have to see what the other admins think, but keep the suggestions coming...

It is for all discussion not specific to any one Civ game or that doesn't fit anywhere else. Especially all Civ5-related discussion (mostly suggestions for now) should go there.

If the people who made The List for Civ3 and Civ4 want to make a meaningful impact on Civ5 in the same way, I suggest they start using that forum to get organised now: now is the time to influence Firaxis, last time the final List wasn't released until the game was almost Alpha, a tad late to say the least...

And why is the "Civilization II" forum listed underneath Civilization IV, but before Civilization III in the main menu?
Because it has WAY more traffic.

The "Off-Topic" forum category has been renamed back to "Miscellaneous" to eliminate that redundancy.

Very nice. Hope it attracts more people and gets back some of the ones who left.

Must take issue with leaving the history forum. As noted in the OP it is even slower than it was. Must we wait until it dies completely? If it were to be moved back soon then some of the people who post there might actually still be around and help the OT activity which is suffering since the break up. If the OT dies then there's nothing left of this once busy site, and the OT isn't doing so well.

I suggest folding the tech, sports and history back in and renaming the forum Off Topic and Stories and Diplomacy, like it was back when it achieved the critical mass to grow.

I know this won't be done of course. Back when the OT was split up I spoke out strongly against it and predicted the demise of the forum. I really do hate being right on this one because the OT and its people, now many gone because of the bad decisions made, has meant alot to me over the years. Now my being correct on these predictions should be noted when I make suggestions for putting things back. So here's a prediction for you...If you don't set things right this site will continue to wither and I would really miss it.

Cutting dead forums and renaming the Poly/Community forum is nice, but it doesn't address the root causes of the failure of Apolyton in my view. There isn't much left to build upon anymore and the decisions aren't getting any better. I wanted to make this a more positive post, and it started out that way but...there's not much to be positive about here. More arrainging of deck chairs on the Titanic. Nice new look to the chairs, and you threw the broken ones overboard which is truly wonderful, but could something please be done about the huge gaping hole in the hull? Thanks.

                                Anyway, good luck.
