Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Actually, when you look at it. Christmas celebrations are quite varied in different parts of Europe. Not everyone celebrates christmas around 24th-26th of december. But I think this is interesting enough to get a thread of its own...
How about implementing this for next year:
Let the posters decide for themselves if they want Xmas smilies or not. Just keep the Xmas smilies stored in a subdir for smilies. Then on dec. 1st for all poster who has activated xmas smilies, the smilies are taken from xmas smilies subdir
Then you don't need to do this every year, and get tons of posts from people who hates xmas smilies (or doesn't like to see Xmas smilies before Dec. 24th )

Sounds like an awful lot of extra work IMO
While yes it is, but look at which possibilities it opens
In the end each poster can have it's own set of smilies
Well... might not be that useful... but that's besides the point
And as an extra bonus it will take even longer before we upgrade to the newest version of the board software, as that adds one more thing to the list of features that needs to be transfered

And Locutus didn't want christmas smilies before Sinterklaas, which is 5th or 6th of december...
Oh no, Xmas smilies are 4 days early for him
I should start a thread, complaining about it being ONE FULL day late. Christmas season starts Dec. 1st here...

Looks like Dan is gonna have to get a mod for smilies alone if this ever comes true...

Well, you know the youth today. They're soo impatient...
That they had been around until mid-January in the past was not done consciously that I can recall... They could serve New Year's too, but this time around I'll remove them between Christmas and New Year's.
But still, my gosh -- we're both site owners and we're having a disagreement of opinion... on Christmas smilies! Oh no! Run for the hills!
You have to admit though, off all the things you could debate about (e.g the future of 'PolyCast, mod appointments, staffing issues, splits of responsibilities, who has the best glasses etc) Christmas smileys probably isn't up there in terms of critical issues. Especially since you are both debating rather forcefully, and in public.
Just a thought (I don't want to be accused of severe/intense antagonism again).
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

Wouter raised the issue publicly and I responded to it in the same environment. I admit I didn't expect to be having as much if any back-and-forth on it period, but it's not a "critical issue" as you say so the fact that it's in public is itself a relative non-issue. Having it addressed publicly once raised publicly seemed to be the better approach.
