If you can find (or make) one, I'll certainly consider it.

So you'll promptly remove the smilies on the 26th then and not keep them around until mid-January like you usually do? Mind you, I don't object to that as much as Christmas *is* actually celebrated in mid-January in parts of the world, but starting a month early is just a joke. What a pathetic life one must have if that's all you have to look forward to for a major portion of the year...

"Commercial hype" and Christmas go hand-in-hand only if you let it -- I don't.
              Yet you just did...

That's not going on with the Christmas smilies here either.
              Yes it is.

I'm not referring to you as a Scrooge for not feeling festive ~4 weeks before Christmas as some do -- rather, for insulting those who are.
Feeling festive has nothing to do with celebrating Christmas a month ahead of time. That's being a lemming. And you're insulting those of us who aren't lemmings by forcing it upon us.

              Get some perspective.
In the scheme of things it's not a huge thing, I agree. So why force it upon us all? Celebrate it in the privacy of your own home...

That they had been around until mid-January in the past was not done consciously that I can recall... They could serve New Year's too, but this time around I'll remove them between Christmas and New Year's.

Just because Christmas smilies are put up just over 3 weeks before Christmas day does not make Christmas "all" that I, or anyone else who likes them now, have to "look forward to". That strikes me as a ridiculous thing to say. I look forward to Christmas, yes, but that's not "all" I look forward to for a "major portion of the year" -- that's overboard and then some.

1 month is not a "major portion of the year" besides -- less than 10% of it -- and again we're talking less than a month to Christmas when these smilies are appearing anyway.

                Yet you just did...
... Wrong. The putting up of Christmas smilies is not commercial.

Feeling festive has nothing to do with celebrating Christmas a month ahead of time. That's being a lemming.
It's not a month ahead of time -- that would have been in November. Anytime in November would be premature in my opinion as well, but even where people do (and I know some people like that) I hardly consider them "lemmings".

And you're insulting those of us who aren't lemmings by forcing it upon us.
So in feeling insulted you decide to call those who are in favour of Christmas smilies now "lemmings" again which itself is insulting. Hmmm.

I don't see any insult intended or implied by Christmas smilies now. That you are insulted is surprising, but I suppose no action is going to please everyone. Yet to work up as much of a fuss as you have about this... yikes.

In the scheme of things it's not a huge thing, I agree. So why force it upon us all? Celebrate it in the privacy of your own home...
Again, it's unfortunate that you take offense but as you said it's not a "huge thing". Therefore, it should be easy enough for you to address for yourself by 'filtering' it.

Xmas smilies should last from 7 December (the day after Sinterklaas) to 6 January (Three Kings), exactly lasting a month.

I already have a tree up with ornaments and lights, so I'm perfectly happy celebrating Christmas now .

                            "Feuding"? We're debating.

But still, my gosh -- we're both site owners and we're having a disagreement of opinion... on Christmas smilies! Oh no! Run for the hills!

You'd know about this "low" first hand then would you?

What wacko country would have visits by Santa in early December?
