I would argue long and hard for democracy games. Most of the discussion is strategizing about game play and diplomacy. The turn player gets a boost for posting the turn results, and there is often a bit of OT stuff - but generally it is civ gaming related. Much of the public forum role-playing and trash-talking in a MP demo game is related to the game being played.

SP demo games, in addition to the fun had by those involved, is a great into to Poly for new folks, and a great learning tool for those new to the game. Ditto for MP demo games, as well as being a great way to get to know a team of members very well.

pbem turn-tracker threads OTOH, where you post "sent to ABC" every 4 days, could be debated. It is however, an indication that you are active in the civ-playing community, so I could only see it going if the OT stuff goes as well.

Aint no way in Hades I could have gotten half this many posts if I had to wait every 4 days to post, heck it takes some times sending 8-20 turns a day per game to get this much momentum


Seriously though folks, when it all boils down to it, we are playing games, talking about "opinions" on world events, trying to get attention through laughter or even pulling someones crank, but at the end of the day we havenet cured a major disease, settled century old mysteries about hatred between two peoples groups, we are all, just having fun and as has been stated before we are a civin site and these are games we support.
