  • There were definitely posts directed at b etor that crossed the line.

That was during the moderation blackout, IIRC.

That's great. It's just something that probably should've happened sooner.

Way, way too late, though. Look, I don't want to come across as unduly critical - were I in your position, I may have made the same mistake that (I believe) you did. In fact, it's highly probable. Asher is good at what he does.

Maybe not the only thing that should have happened sooner.

As pointed out... Drake posted PM's without the authors permission.

Mobius on the other hand posted a message from a banned poster. That also is against the rules.

A simple statement of the rule broken, the penalty, and what is needed to be back. There is no reason for ongoing discussion unless the offending poster actually has a point to discuss. A nice out of jail {debt paid to society kind of thng) at release would be a good touch. Firm and Civil moderation will run no one off.

CG's rules are in a simple sentence:

"In short, almost anything is welcome here except personal attacks on members or their families, deliberately and persistently posting in such a way as to reduce others' enjoyment of the site, posting anything that will get Counterglow kicked off the server or anything that will expose Counterglow to criminal or civil action in any jurisdiction."

The only bit I have ever seen get moderation for is "posting anything that will get Counterglow kicked off the server or anything that will expose Counterglow to criminal or civil action in any jurisdiction".

                    • It means the administration is very open minded, and if you do something to get yourself kicked you definitely deserved it and no further explanation is really necessary.

yeah, PIF, OTOH, has 23 rules, and on the OT, has additional rules including

And yes, they enforce them, from what I can gather.

One reason I dont post there, is that they sticky their Post of the Month contest, which, when abbreviated, creates confusion for me.

                            Precisely.

Which is why it's hard to know whether to laugh or cry at this apparent outrage by some over the mods' continued attempts to get Asher back in line with a somewhat civilised posting behaviour to his name.

Unmoderated, he will start to hurt others in short order. That is, in part, what the "repeat offender" label refers to in his case. People should be able to deduce as much if they've paid any attention at all to what he's been posting inbetween bannings.

She was taunted, abused, called a whore and what not by some posters. I'm not talking about the silly "FBI agent" jokes. She was really called a whore, or told that she's a nimphomaniac.

That thread got absolutely zilch moderator response, as far as I recall.
