    • This is fricking hilarious.

People are screeming for consistency, but it ain't gonna happen from me.

People that break the rules all the time get treated more harshly than those that do it once in a blue moon.
      DEAL WITH IT.

If someone breaks the rules by accident (or not so by accident) and acknowledges that he did and says he won't do it again, usually don't get a vacation.

Those that do it all the time and then pretend to claim innocence don't get cut slack.

And if we've ever had anyone that pushes the edge or outright just jumps over it, it's Asher.

People that play on or over the edge know they're doing it and must be ready to accept the consequences.
It's what they do and what the get. Geeze.

Nothing to see here, just move along.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

      • Again, what did he do to be banned last time? Or the time before that? I want quotes. I have looked for them and have not found anything in violation of site rules in his last few posts.

        • Thank you, rah! It's very nice to see a mod openly admit that they don't care about the rules. I appreciate your candor.

This, to be honest, is not the best policy ever, and just leads to more enmity towards the administrators. What's the reasoning behind the whole 'read, respond, or be restricted' technique, anyway? Why is it necessary for a user to say "yessir, I was a bad boy, I is sowwy"? Look at what you're doing...you're telling somebody who already has a reason to be combative (their thread is being pulled) who may be feeling like they didn't do anything wrong that they have to apologize, admit they were wrong, and then they'll be allowed back in? How is it helpful to go out of your way to pick a fight? They already know what they did wasn't approved of by admin, they've either been warned or restricted. If they do it again, just take action against them...why even open the matter up to discussion like that? (Privately, at least...public discussion is another matter.)

            • Anyway, imo if the OT is to ever become something more than a pub for the ussual crowd, it has to be more systematically moderated.

I mean when was the last time you actually saw a settler post? (apart from the obvious double accounts).

              • Looks like the administration has succeeded in driving away some of the forums' best posters without verifiable reason, while alienating the strong majority of those who remain. Nicely done.

Honestly, just give it a break. And ming & rah, you need to quit and do something else besides mod poly. For mods taking the high road, you are acting totally unprofessional.

                • I'm conflicted here. On the one hand, Asher's a total ass, and goes out of his way time and time again to pick fights with the mods. It's his favorite 'poly game. So no sympathy there. Plus, his little war on LotM's posting style was disgusting (though I completely agree with Kuci and Siro re: LotM's response, and attempted to counsel a better one via PMs to no avail).

But the fact is that Asher has gotten under the mods skins to such an extent that they're now largely irrational when it comes to him. I can't say I'd be any better, but it's pretty obvious from my standpoint. Just as the words "George W. Bush" send me immediately to the brink of foaming rage, Asher's got the mods on a hair-trigger, and has recently been banned when he should've have been (after having not been banned when he probably should have been).

The way I see it, moderation in the OT went lax, and then when the mods became more active again, they were (quite) inconsistent. People aren't robots, so perfect consistency is a pipe dream (especially with posters like Asher who view mod-bating as a real fun game), but it could definitely be better.

for the third time, I DID put him on ignore, but by that point he was in a secondary fight with the mods.

                    • Some people, otoh, couldnt care less about that poster.
Really, does this deserve so many posts?
There is a very good reason why other major forum sites have a "do not discuss the mod's decisions" policy: it precicely makes what has happened here, impossible to take place.

                      Comment

                      • If you actually read the posts, the discussion is not about the poster, it's about the policies. It just all ended up in a thread about the poster because attempts to discuss it in another context were removed.

Get that POLE in the HOLE and **** it and chuck it or whatever it takes to get your mind of being a hard mod. Get hard elsewhere

I'm frankly surprised that b etor is still here.

She was taunted, abused, called a whore and what not by some posters. I'm not talking about the silly "FBI agent" jokes. She was really called a whore, or told that she's a nimphomaniac.

That thread got absolutely zilch moderator response, as far as I recall.
I agree strongly on that point.
