    How do you establish that?
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Are you admitting to 10,000 DLs?

Since what you said wasn't funny and seemingly serves no other purpose I can only presume you were asking a serious question.

There would only seem to be two possible explanations for this:

                  i) you're stupid, or
                  ii) you're spamming.

it was a wild guess on my part.

back in my day, everyone who was anyone had DL's. I had around 10 DL's myself. If every poster had that many, yes half of those 20,000 could have been DL's.

I've had DLs many places... but not here... ... I wouldn't dare.

And I'm sure the distribution is like >90% of all posts created by <10% of the total user population
Considering that with 65K posters, one percent is the top 650. If you look at the count, that means everyone with over 800 ontopic posts is in the top one percent.

So 800*650 is 520k ontopic posts alone, not even counting the offtopic.

If you look at the top 20, each of them has 10K posts, so they have 200k in just the top 20 for the ontopic. Adding the two together, gives you a rough estimate of 720K ontopic posts, and that doesn't even count those properly with over 800, and under 10k posts.

At 10%, and 6500 users, we have 7 ontopic posts, so that only gets us 6500*7 = 45K posts.

I would say one percent would be about right, that half of the posts are made by one percent of the posters, given how quickly the counts drop.

                          Or both.

Explain then, what was the purpose of your post "How do you establish that"?

I did a little bit of random sampling, and here's what I came up with.

Average number of posts per poster is 73 posts, for a total of around 2.2 million posts total. That's complicated by the fact that many posters got their counts from before off topic posts stopped counting, so that will be more than the total number of ontopic posts today.

With 200k for the top 20 and 600k for the top 200, that's 800k, not including the posts for those who are between 10k and 30k. So I think it's safe to say that the top 200 have over 50 percent of the posts, and that's less than 1/3rd of 1 percent.

                                280k posts in top 20
900k posts in top 20-200, 1180k posts in top 200
440k posts in top 200-400, total of 1620k
240k posts in top 400-600, total of 1860k

add another 36k for the last 45 posters, and you get 1.9 million of 2.2 million total posts in the top 1 percent.

So at least in the ontopic, 90 percent of the posts are made by 1 percent of polytubbies.
