  • The future of Apolyton?

How long will this site go on, and what will you do if (when; all things must come to an end... ) it goes off-line?

All the time invested here... The habit of checking the fora and posting... The (mostly) friendly exchanges... No more... Then what?

Given that this site has been online for quite some years, I can't see why it would go offline anytime soon. The Civ franchise will continue, or at least something similar to Civ games, the community will keep the interest... why not. I can quite see Apolyton online in 2010 and 2015.

Got to admit, though, it's so much of a home online for me that losing this site would be quite sad - there are many sites I visit regularly, a few that I realy like a lot, but there is only one that is like home, and this it is.

For $140 USD it had better...

Well, I did have a year without Poly recently. It wasn´t that bad. But right now I´d miss it terribly if it went away...

if the site owners lose interest, I'll learn how to run an internet site and bulletin board and use my own money to keep it alive.

It's like a drug, I can't go without it for very long. I'll sell all my things if I have to. i just need that hit of sweet, sweet poly.

I'd have to say- this is my favorite forum ever.

It wasn't my first- it was my 2nd [or 3rd if you want to get technical- but the civ II universe was only a hated branching-thread board] [sidgames was my first, but it was a dying wasteland]- but, as Solver notes- it is home.

I check no other forum on a daily basis. On no other forum do I know as many of the personalities. On no other forum do I interact as much. On no other forum do I even approach the amount of posts, time, energy, etc. On no other forum do I like the people, the community, everything as much.

Markos and Dan do a great job and an amazing service here. I really appreciate everything that they do for us and frankly, love this site!

Hopefully Sid keeps releasing games for long into the future so that Apolyton can remain strong.
(hmm... Civ IV c. 2006... shelf life of 4 years--> Apolyton should at least be member-strong until 2010.)

sid will keep making games, even if I have to hold a gun to his head.

I'd hate to see what a Diety's responsibilities are, though.
