Kuci would surely know about some of the Eventis downtime...

Of course the number of spin-off sites is also testimony to Poly's greatness. I would surely hate to see it go.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

With the release of Civ 4 we will not only see a ton of new users, but hopefully also indeed an increase in the number of active users .

-but the main thing that will matter is if we can retain them and suck them into the OT or somewhere else, breathing new life back into the site

On another note, it'll be really interesting when some of the real oldies- CornMaster, Shadowstrike, Bird, etc. return and see the SAME PEOPLE posting here that were 5 and even 6 or 7 years ago

The OT doesn't need any new life breathed into it.

No, I don't think it does. I think it's more the on-topic forums that need more activity.

But most of the people who stick around to post on-topic wait in the OT between releases

And the on-topic activity is bound to increase. After Civ3 was released, the Civ3 forums were extremely active. The Civ4 forums will liekly be even more active - it's 4 years later after all.

Maybe the off-topic will accidentally get deleted

I'm sure the Civ4 spike will be marked. There should be an x-pack spike too.

IME, a lot of the people in the OT just don't post on-topic period.

It could use some new weirdzos, tho. Some subjects are getting awfully repetitive.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?
