Barry Trotz felt that winning the Cup made him deserving of a salary more in line with that of other Cup winning coaches. Apparently, the Caps were offering about 1/3 that number.

Ming, did you just copy your first round from last year? The only winner you picked differently was the Calgary series and that's cause neither of those teams were in it. Of the seven winners you picked from last year you only had a different number of games in 2 of those series
