The Hoke situation has gone rather surreal. Hoke has 2 pressers in which he acts completely clueless about the situation and the health of his QB. Basically denies having any knowledge that there was a problem or knowing whether or not Morris was concussed. Then at 1 AM today Brandon issues a statement saying Hoke wasn't informed and that Morris indeed had a "mild concussion" (WTF go all the medical experts), but that the situation has been handled correctly during the game. And then the Michigan president issues a statement later in the day apologizing to Morris' family and acknowledging they done ****ed up. It seems like there's no communication whatsoever between Hoke, Brandon and the administration. And Hoke's statements indicate there was no communication between him, assistant coaches and the team medical staff during the game. Just what the hell is going on there?

Seriously, it wasn't a huge shock. After the game in Pullman two weeks ago, it was obvious the O-Line was decimated and couldn't protect Mariota. The defensive play calling continued to be "play it safe" rather than the old dice-rolling of Nick Aliotti. Considering the abundance of talent on the team, the coaching staff is entirely to blame for this, IMO. There is a massive lack of discipline in all phases, especially evident in the stupid penalties. How does one of your players rip the helmet off the opposing QB while he's on the ground? How does another do a strutting celebration out to midfield and take a bow after a sack, when you're down 7 points? The play-calling was also just dismal, totally predictable on offense and timid on defense. The Chip Kelly mojo is nowhere to be seen. I was willing to give Helfrich some time, but the growing sentiment is that he was given the keys to a Ferrari and is driving it like a Prius. He seems more like an accountant than a head coach. Don Pellum is completely unequipped to be the DC.

I can't see how Oregon wins next week at UCLA. It would take a complete implosion of the Bruins and some inspired playing by the Ducks all-round. Otherwise, they're looking at having consecutive losses in a season for the first time since 2007. Not pretty!

But this weekend could spell the downfall of a host of possibly overrated teams. Last night we saw BYU go down hard at home to mediocre in-state rival Utah State, losing its star QB for the season in the process. Oklahoma, TAMU, Auburn, Alabama and Notre Dame could all easily lose their games. At this point, I'm all for chaos!

By the way, it was UA, not ASU, that beat Oregon. Don't confuse them or they will kill you.

BYU was just horribly overrated, simple as that. Their resume was based on playing nobodies, as usual.

Looks like the first of my potential upsets is underway: Mississippi State is dominating TAMU so far.
