Yeah, the series has been close where a single call either way could have made a difference. The Hawks need to do better so it doesn't come down to that type of thing.

1945 was the only time it happened. Previous stanley cup winners, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Montreal all made the playoffs in 1945. Toronto won the cup that year.I imagine it must have happened once or twice back in the Original Six days.
I don't know if that counts as 'original six era'.

It was an interesting period in NHL history. From 1940-1945, all six original six teams made the NHL Stanley cup finals. From 1938 to 1945, if it wasn't for Boston's win in 1939, you would have had all six 'original six' teams win the stanley cup, in order in just seven years.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Yeah, Quick won them the cup last year, and is why I'd rather face SJ - I don't think either team is as good on paper as the Hawks, but Quick is a factor I'd rather not run into. Oh well.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
