Do you not understand the concept of play action? That play works because Luck is throwing well. He sold the handoff perfectly.

Play action works the same way with the handoff. He faked the handoff.

Option runs are not contingent on making the defense think you'll be pass.

They are contingent on the defense thinking that Luck isn't passing.

The trickery behind option runs is that the defense doesn't know who is going to run. There is no passing in the read option. It's either hand off to the RB or tuck and run.

It doesn't work if the defense isn't stacked in the box, and you have to get them to bite on the handoff. Same deal when you have runs off the play action, which we've not seen because Indy's run game is crap.

Luck's was a designed option run. I think the first Smith run was also designed but I'd have to look at it again. It might not have been.

Smith's had one designated play this game where he was the primary run option.

It's really not played a significant role in the game. Alex Smith's already thrown for 200+ yards in the half, well on his way to 400 plus.

Excuse me? Smith converted two 3rd downs by running! That's not significant? Are you dumb? Did you hear what Rodney Harrison just said? The Colts needed to QB Spy Smith on those 'KEY conversions'

He's not getting 400 yards. If all goes well, Smith will not throw another pass all game. Exactly like what I was telling you. Luck will lose and throw 40-50 times and Smith will call it a day with no more than 25 pass attempts and your idiot self will say Luck played better.

As for your play-action and option lack of knowledge, I'm not going to try to educate you. You're wrong. Go look it up.
