You just don't get it. The Cowboys have had success in the past and are always viable as an outside shot, so maybe you can't see it*. A team as truly horrible as the Lions doesn't allow for much cheering. I can see it a little because the Snyder era 'Skins are horrid; even the Return of the Great Joe Gibbs ended in failure. After years and years, the optimism one has gets ground down and down, until there's nothing left but realism. After all, it's a team that made Barry Sanders walk away in his prime rather than play for them. Imagine how devastating that would be, if your franchise hof'er would rather go sell insurance than play for your crappy team.
