I used to play Civ2 secession games where we handcuff ourselves with quite an elaborate number of disadvantages to learn how to break the game. My favourite was the no science Alpha Centauri game. We had what, caravan deliveries across the world to forcefeed one AI city for beaker bonuses? It was a hoot.

Isn't the point of playing this game to have fun? I sure did.
