HOW TO ASSIGN A BAPAY:

1. SORT assigned team by position.
2. CHECK for filled starting offensive positions: (QB1 - RB1 - WR1 - TE1 - RB2 - WR2)
3. CHECK for filled starting defensive positions: (DE1 - LB1 - DB1 - LB2 - DB2)
4. CHECK for filled backup offensive positions: (RB3 - WR3 - RB4 - WR4)
5. CHECK for filled positions in this order: (QB2, TE2, RB5, WR5, QB3, DEF6, K)
6. IF all starting offensive positions are not filled;
LIST unfilled starting offensive positions;
THEN choose highest ranked player by ACTUAL filter.
7. IF all starting defensive positions are not filled;
LIST unfilled starting defensive positions;
THEN choose highest ranked player by FANTASY points.
8. IF all backup offensive positions are not filled;
LIST unfilled backup offensive positions;
THEN choose highest ranked player by ACTUAL filter.
9. Fill remaining positions in the order they are listed.

Dude. How the **** do you get that as an order or priority? It means the best available of DL, LB, or DB!

They use a comma to represent two things, an order and a linked set. One of these need to go.

That's pretty damn clear to me. I see nothing about DL having priority over LB, given a player who has neither position.

Does anyone besides Ben have a problem understanding this?

That doesn't say to you

And it should have been rewritten last year. We're having the EXACT SAME problem this year.

It's whatever defender has the most points, which is probably the LB. Remember to use the fantasy points filter for defense. If somebody could verify the player that fits then go ahead and do the BAPAY.

As you correctly pointed out to me before the draft started Ben, that was the time to discuss scoring, rules, etc. Once the draft started however the rules are set. I think 9 out of 10 of the managers can correctly assign a BAPAY with the current rules, (and 11/12 last year). Could this rule be written better? Yes. Is there any reason to rewrite it? No.

Yes, there's a reason to rewrite it, "BAPAYs may be assigned by any player"

Insofar as any of the managers cannot understand the BAPAY rules as written, they should be rewritten so that they can be understood. By all of the managers.

It's not a rules change, it's a syntax change. The way I've rewritten it is clearer, less ambiguous and I believe we should be using it. I ask this as a courtesy, please.

I'm not trying to change the rules, just rewrite them so that I can understand them. That is all.

This is crystal clear to me:

8-12) DL1, LB1/2, DB1/2, by Fantasy Points

You check if he has a DL, LB, and/or DB. If he has none, you pick the best available player.

If he already has an LB (or a DB), you pick the best available DL, LB, or DB, same as though he had no defensive player.
The only exception is if he were to have a DL. Then, you pick the best available LB or DB.

An impartial, objective observer can understand this.

Sparrow. Let me tell you a story.

Every year we put up a christmas tree. Every year my father would try to saw off the trunk to get it to fit inside the tire. Every year he tried using a full on saw to cut the edges of the tree off to get a good fit. Every year he got pissed off sitting there fighting with the tree.

Then one year he got a chisel.

I don't understand why everyone else seems to grasp the rules. It seems very unclear to me. I wish I felt the same way as you to just look at it and get it. It should work for me but it doesn't.

I'll withdraw my request then. I've got my rewritten version myself, and it works fine for me.

Not all tools fit the same hand.
