There's only one hall of famer since the expansion era who sucked less than Iginla in the playoffs. Can you name him?
I could wait for Flubber to show up and point out that if only one hall of famer sucked "less" than Iginla in the playoffs that you are therefore claiming him to be second best....but that would be pedantic so I'll move on.
I'll take a stab at guessing you are referring to Marcel Dionne?

"Clearly I'm missing the thread some of where the NFL actually is." - Ben Kenobi on his NFL knowledge
I am amused that this is the same Ben who defends Luongo's sub-.500 record and 300 losses due to playing on a bad team for several years.
Well, he's proven himself in the playoffs. That's the difference. Just since 06, he's quietly been creeping up the rankings. He's now 35th now for career playoff wins.
Anyways, doing the same for Roberto Luongo places him ahead of one modern day HOF, Ed Giacomin.
Total list of modern inductees is just 8. Median would be 54 playoff wins. That's some ways off for Bobby Lou, so he'll have some work to do. He's already passed Giacomin.
Tony Esposito
Grant Fuhr
Patrick Roy
Ed Giacomin
Bernie Parent
Gerry Cheevers
Ken Dryden
Billy Smith
Pick a lane.
I have. Neither Bobby Lou nor Iginla are anywhere close by this measure to the hall of fame. Median for Iginla is around 110 playoff points, and median for Bobby Lou is 54 playoff wins.
Iggy isn't even halfway there, whereas Bobby Lou is 60 percent there. Still lots of work to do. Parent is 5 off, and Esposito is 12. The difference is that Bobby Lou is ahead of one nominee in 8 as opposed to one nominee in 90. That puts him about the 88th percentile of modern HOFers in his weakest statistic. Not great, but not far off.
The closest player to Iginla, would be at 62 points, which is 13 more then he has at present, and then it's another 10 to three away from him.
Median for all goalies in the HOF who played in the NHL is 35, just two away for Bobby Lou.
Dropping off the folks with fewer than 20 wins, gives you 41.

Stupid mistake. Yes I meant that Iggy sucked more than all the HOFers save one.
I'll take a stab at guessing you are referring to Marcel Dionne?
Yes, it's no other than Marcel Dionne.
Well done. That's really the problem for Iggy. He's got Dionne's playoff numbers without Dionne's amazing numbers over the regular season. Bobby Lou can claim that he's better than at least one modern day HOF, in all measures. The same isn't true of Iginla.
At present, he'd be by far the worst modern day nominee. Lou's pretty close to a bunch, Cheevers, Giacomin and Parent.
And that just goes to show you just how hard it is for goalies to get into the hall of fame. 8 nominees in the past 40 years, that's only one every 5 years. If they inducted at the same ratio the remaining five positions, they'd only have 40 skaters.
By my count they've got 20+15+15+10 = 60 skaters. They'd have to induct 12 more goaltenders just to keep the rate the same as with centres.
So even given the twice as difficult measures, Bobby Lou still comes out ahead in his worst measure.

Yeah, I do when his numbers are so terrible. Look at players like Hawerchuk. Hawerchuk still managed 100 points playing with Winnipeg. Are you telling me that the Jets of his era were better than the Flames that Iggy has?
They were much better relatively. Some years they were the second best team in the West, IIRC. Their problem was that there was this other team in their division with Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, etc.

There's much to be amused with, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Damn, I don't know any other team that faced that problem in the 80's.

Lmao.
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
I believe Luongo will make the HoF despite his inconsistency and meltdowns in the playoffs. He does play for a very good team now so he should continue to rack up wins so that his regular season stats will make a case for him.
Iginla? His consistent goal scoring gets him to the hall in my opinion but again he is not among the all time super elite. I know all the stuff that asher was citing about his leadership and honestly I have a problem . While I have seen Iggy step up personally again and again at crunch times, I have often seen other members of the team falter and all those first round exits and the last two years of playoff misses do make me question things. Should not a great leader at least sometimes cause their team to outperform expectations? The flames had 04 and perhaps a year or two of making the playoffs with a weak team that Iggy carried but that's it.

Yeah, I was shocked to see that Iggy has fewer playoff points than any player save Dionne who is in the HOF. Even Keith Tkachuk has more, with 56. At present Tkachuk will get in before Iggy, and that speaks volumes as to where he stands.
