  • 2.11 isn't exactly terrible. GAA has more to do with the team than the goalie though.

I never said it was terrible. It's just not even close to how well Kipper can play.

GAA has more to do with the team than the goalie though.
Look at the 03-04 Flames and tell me that was a stacked team. Go on.

and wins and losses don't ??

What Luongo's record shows is that he made it into the league younger than many and has very good longevity with good numbers. He has never been that exceptional and to me longevity counts for a bit but nowhere near where you seem to value it-- is Tom Barrasso in your top 20 ??

          • I really have to finish up my stat adjuster, converting goalie stats back to pre-Bettman era, with Bobby Lou cracking 300.

            • Schenieder is confirmed as the starter ( whispers of a Luongo back injury) -- did I call it or what ??

                Luongo: 308-329 2.53 GAA .919 SV
                Barrasso: 369-270 3.24 GAA .878 SV

Barrasso isn't especially notable for longevity. Luongo's been in the league as long as he has. The really spectacular difference is the clash between win pct and save pct. What that says is like Gump Worsley, he spent a long time playing for terrible teams. I look forward to next season, seeing him crack the .500 barrier. He's only 21 games out of .500 for his career.

Bobby Lou has a pretty good chance at the all-time record if he stays healthy. Brodeur only has 404 for his career. Khabibulin has 369, and Burke has 378. Wow, Burke sure racked up quite a few losses.

Bobby Lou, if he can finish at +21 for his career, will be the only goalie with more than 300 wins and 300 losses, to finally pass .500 on his career.

I guess Tom B needed to drop 30 more of those games to be truly "exceptional"

Dammit Vigneault. Well I guess if they lose the series AV and Bobby Lou are gone.

I don't believe, and you can correct me on this, that he ever played on an under .500 team.

BUt how many have more losses than wins LOL? I know Worsely and Meloche (minus 81 over his career) but Roy is PLUS 236 Joseph is a Plus 102, Belfour plus 164 Espo and Hall PLUS 117. (and I know Brodeur only EVER had one losing season-- this one)

Even on your favorite measure, Luongo has a tough time making it into the top 5 even on this stat ( and those goalies played with less games per season which must be considered)-- For Luongo to make your predicted top 5 he would need a series of exceptional regular seasons plus some playoff success-- I fin it tough to see anyone being considered among the best of all time without a Vezina, a reputation as a clutch guy for a few years (Cup preferred but not technically absolutely necessary)

My favourite measure is sv pct. Luongo's .919 is unparalleled among Goalies with over 300 wins save Hasek.

That he has not yet won a Vezina is a travesty.

You are incorrect-- Both he and Buffalo were under .500 one year of his 5 -- I haven't checked his other 5 teams but this can sometimes be a self-fulfilling prophecy ( a winning goalie never playing on a losing team because he is doing the winning)

                              • The team is not losing because of the goalie. So changing that up is unlikely to provide much gain, but if it doesn’t work, it is likely to have his head.
Quoted, and rec'd for my agree. Unnecessary risk, unnecessary gamble, but it will cost Vigneault, and likely Luo's job.
