Let's face it. It was just a bunch of drunken meatheads looking to make a mess and they would have done it even if their team won. It just would have been a celebratory riot instead of a "we're mad our guys lost" riot.

Back in college the tradition was if the host of a party ran out of beer then the revelers would take his couch into the street and light it on fire. The drunk dumb asses would then try to jump over the flaming couch and every once in a while someone wouldn't make it. Usually it was just some light burns and singed hair before they rolled off but the best part was the cops would then arrest them for creating a hazard to themselves and others so burned and arrested.

There is bound to be some old episode of Isla Vista TV on youtube showing people doing this.

        • Here you go:

A couch burns on the 6600 block of Del Playa in Isla Vista, CA on Friday February 18th, 2011.

It was a fine tradition plus it meant if you had a nice couch you bought an extra keg just to make sure you didn't run out. Either that or you locked your doors because it was par for the course for drunken people to wander into random houses looking for beer or hot chicks and the random strangers were usually the destructive ones.

              • Are we done gloating at Ben yet?

Vancouver was a very good team that came very close and will be very likley to make a similar run next season so there is little reason for Canucks fans to be too glum. LOts of questions around consistency though. MOst key elements of their team had periodfs of excellence and periods of putridness. The highs and lows were spectacular

                  Never.

Besides, he's not even here to own up to it.

After all of his arrogance, he should atone...

                    • I've stolen Ben's signature, for good measure.

I posted right after the game and congratulated the Bruins on their well-deserved cup win.

How that comprises 'fleeing away', I don't know.

Pity. Well done to the Bruins.

Can't believe Burrows missed on the open net. Just didn't get the pucks tonight.

Because that's all you've done. Your normally post more than once after a series ends.

                              • Oh and i will be curious to see how Ben says that Luongo outgoaltended Thomas in the series now that Thomas got a second shutout.
Obviously he didn't and they lost. Thomas was the better goalie in game seven and managed to hold it together.

Thomas skunked him in GAA, SV %, Saves, TOI and took wins.
Part of that is Thomas, part of that is on the offensive side of the team. Bobby Lou had two shutouts, should have been enough to carry the team.

Even if the loss isn't "Luongos fault" that makes 3 of four playoff series where he got out tended ( I know Ben will say 2 of 4).
Bobby Lou was better than Pekka Rinne. I really don't understand why you aren't getting this. Bobby Lou being better than Pekka Rinne was a major part of why they won, and why they got to 7 games in the first place.

Sorry Ben but even though the team got very close, this was not the epic goalie run which makes a legend.
Actually, yes, it is an epic goalie run. 4 shutouts puts him tied for 6th all time.

I bet if you did a look at those in the top 10 all time, most have runs or times of greatness. To be an all time great I think there has to have been an acknowledged time period where you were simply the best among your contemporaries by a clear margin.
He's not there yet. I only have him ranked 18th. He's also only 31, so plenty of time still.

For Luongo I just don't see it yet. Longevity and a very good save percentage mean you are good. I need more to see someone as a great
Fair enough, but he's building up a resume and this run while not as good as it could have been adds to it substantially.

Of his generation of goalies, (1978,79,80,81,82)

The next nearest contemporary is Ryan Miller. Luongo leads him in wins with 80. He leads Lundqvist by 31 shutouts. He's behind Bryzalov, Lundqvist and Miller in GAA. He's ahead of Lundqvist in Save percentage.

In playoff wins, he's still 9 behind Fleury.

Given where I have him ranked all time:

He needs 2 more playoff shutouts (7).
He needs 17 more playoff wins to catch Glenn Hall.
He needs 22 more regular season wins to catch Harry Lumley. That's unadjusted for era, which means he'll need a fair bit more.

He's going to be in the conversation as one of the best all time. He's well ahead of his contemporaries.
