In British football (soccer), you can either have the team from your place of birth/where you grew up, or either of your parents' teams.
There are simply no other options.
Picking other teams (eg, abroad) is not subject to any rules. For example, when I was a kid the Durham cricket team were the nearest to Newcastle but they were a minor county at the time so I picked Leicestershire for no good reason. But when Durham achieved full county status, I couldn't change my support (maybe a strong term, because I'm not too worried about national cricket, only international).
Having read that, I'm even more keen on the Eagles as my bye-week team.
