Apparently they didn't feel that made up for it (or, liked the quality of RB they'll get at #17-#19 more than the people in L1 liked them).
I think the D/ST draft (and last year's 14-team IDP) showed people that, if they want one of the elite QBs, they have to do it in the first round. The question is, what do you consider the cutoff for the "elite" tier?

Personally, I'm thrilled with how this played out. Frank Gore at #9 was my wet-dream scenario. I had him ranked #5.

Nope, that's not the way to look at it. The way to look at it is that this league gives a full point(!) per completion, and a half point per incompletion. These are DOUBLE the values from the D/ST league.

This league is actually even more QB-heavy than the last one. Peyton Manning should hit an easy 625 points in this league. When the top RBs are likely to hit, oh, 220 points TOTAL, it's easy to see where your picks should be going.

Top RB will hit more like 300 while Peyton won't hit 600, but yes, there's a bit of a differential there. Still, very top RBs are better than their second round replacements by more than the top QBs in total points.

That's the way I look at it -- point differential within the position.

I'll give Chris Johnson a whopping 1700 yards, 12 TDs, 2 fumbles, 40 receptions, 360 yards. That would be among the best 100 RB seasons in history, no question.

                That's 170+72-6+40+18. That's 294.

Meanwhile, I'm just giving Manning his usual 4300 yards, 34 TDs, 10 INTs, 14 Sacks, 380 completions, 170 incompletions, 4 fumbles. That comes out to 172+204-30-7+380-85-12. That comes out to 622.

                Compare him to his brother:

                Eli will get what, 3700 yards, 24 TDs, 16 INTs, 6 fumbles, 28 sacks, 310 completions, 210 incompletions? That's about 440 points.

And Eli's probably going to be starting for someone.

The difference between Peyton and Eli this year is going to be about the same as the difference between Chris Johnson and, oh, Cadillac Williams or Ben Tate.

You might want to check those numbers, Jag. Last year CJ got over 360 points, and several RBs were in the 290s. On the other hand the top several QBs were all around 515.

The scoring in both leagues makes it at best, a debatable questions.

The #1 vs #12 QB last year were 515 to 384, or 131 points. The #1 vs #12 RB were 364 to 174, or 190 points. Even leaving out CJ's awesome season, 294 vs 174 or 120 points #2 to #12; so if you assumed the identical # of QBs and RBs went in the first and second rounds, they're basically similar. (And of course, that would be a strange assumption, given you need 2 or 3 RBs).

                        615. Look at the league numbers. My numbers are fine, and you're looking at the D/ST league's scoring.

Also, if you can get a RB who sets the league yards-from-scrimmage record, then yeah, you should get him. But that's not what Chris Johnson is going to do this year, and it's certainly not going to be happening with, like, Ryan Mathews or other RBs who go about now.

Do you need me to literally take a screenshot of the top QBs by our scoring? Manning scored 627 last year, and Brees and Rodgers followed close behind.

I'm going to be leaving lists for the next day or two. They'll be as explicit as I can provide.
                            Thanks.

OK, 1st QB vs 12th is -160 (620 vs 460). 1st RB vs 12th RB is 160. Even accounting for MJD instead of CJ, say, it's 100, and more reasonably comparing 1-12 QB to 1-24 RB, is 150 for RB, even leaving out the flex position.

Let's take the draft strategy discussion to another thread, please. I'd like this thread to be a fairly cohesive record of the draft. If possible. Within reason.

Catfights over draft strategies belong elsewhere.
