Yeah, the merciful thing to do with the 2 last place teams is usually to end their seasons, not continue with consolation shenanigans.

For the record: Waiver wires will remain open for the playoffs in IDP, for all teams with a game scheduled.
Upon elimination (missing the playoffs, or losing in the playoffs, in any bracket), teams are considered frozen and are expected to cease making any roster changes, including both adds and drops.
I can freeze teams and reset rosters manually with my sweeping Commish Powers, but hope that will not be necessary this year.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

I think traditional waiver wires are superior in some ways, in that they discourage manic personnel moves, but they also require a little more work in other ways, since you have to check whether you got the player you wanted. I'm strongly considering a return to traditional next year, since I don't want to force people to run to their computers every time a new RB prospect gets 3 consecutive carries, or every time a player goes down with a minor injury during a game."You're the biggest user of hindsight that I've ever known. So instead of MRT () grabbing the backup of however got hurt on 3:55 pm Sunday afternoon at 3:56 pm, he'd have to wait til 8pm on Friday when everybody else will be more easily able to make the pickup. From that point, it would be first-come, first-serve so got to be quick on the draw then and prioritize your week's pickups.
The issue then would be how to treat players that were dropped after Friday 8pm to make room for new acquisitions. Again, to enable everyone to have a fair shot at getting the newly available player, you may have to have a waiting week where a player dropped after Friday 8pm would not be available for pickup until next Friday at 8pm. However, if we don't care that the guy who checks the waiver wire on Friday only would miss out on the guy dropped on Saturday, then there's no need for the waiting week."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Al oughta be happy with me promoting my league again...
WW pick ups in my league work on a daily basis. The days, however aren't always broken down in 24 hour increments. Sunday, for instance, is actually midnight to right before kickoff of Sunday games (all times are Central as everyone in my league is in that time zone). Then all WW picks made after kickoff on Sunday until Midnight Tuesday (there is no Monday pick). All other picks are by the day.
Currently, if more than one person makes a WW pick for the same player, it goes to a coin toss.
While the system may seem kinda bulky, it limits the quick draw of first-come but still allows some advantage for people who pay enough attention to at least check the league on a daily basis.Founder of The Glory of War, CHAMPIONS OF APOLYTON!!!

Dont you wanna nerf QBs too flash? Why you hating on the way I do things?
There's one thing I gotta say in defense of first come first serve; The people that want it more are rewarded. If you do it another way you're basically making passive management more rewarding than active management. My team would have suffered greatly if we had done it any other way. Clayton, Steven Johnson, Britt, Brandon Jackson, Torain and both williams were all waiver pickups and I only got them because I was watching football in the moment."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

I think dedication to watching the game should be rewarded in some capacity. Also I find the cries about injury to be hollow. Fantasy handcuffs have a role that so many neglected and I benefitted from."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

We all watch the games. Handcuffing is fine, in some ways. It also takes out another optional player. I'd rather have 2 RB's on different teams than Felix Jones and Barber that split time, in case one gets hurt.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
