  • thx, but Slow's still got a chance I think... Jag's dominance is more than noteworthy, his win over Zopper puts his #1 pt total in 1st place - so he's in first and 13-0 in the D league.

    wow

and congrats Rabbit, whooped me at FFZ

Berz, do you happen to remember the last time a team threatened undefeatedness in poly? And who stopped it?

          • I did in 2007. I broke hard in favor of the Patriots offense that year, picking up Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, and Stephen Gostkowski. Kind of similar to what I did with the Chiefs offense this year. My running backs were Tomlinson and Barber. I pushed 250 points in one week. I think it was week 6, where Tomlinson had 200 yards and 4 TDs, Brady had nearly 400 yards and 5 TDs, and Welker had maybe 12 catches for 130 yards and 2 TDs. And scoring wasn't even as generous as it is now, so 250 points went even farther.

Berz, my fantasy arch-enemy, broke my undefeatedness late in the year, forcing me to 13-1. I then choked in the playoffs and ended up 3rd. My other Poly team won that year on the back of Peyton Manning, though.

Nice. I didn't play here in 07, thus my lack of awareness. And thus your winking smilie when you asked the question...

Your other Poly team (the one that won) that year:

                    Peyton Manning
                    Ryan Grant
                    Jamal Lewis
                    Laurence Maroney
                    Jerious Norwood
                    Kenny Watson
                    Jesse Chatman (Who?)
                    Larry Fitzgerald
                    Hines Ward
                    Santonio Holmes
                    Brandon Marshall
                    Wes Welker
                    Antonio Gates

                    • Chatman started for the Fins after Ronnie Brown broke his leg or something. Chatman was talented but often out of shape and stuff. Brown was one of my players, and without some other breaks, my team would've been devastated.

The key was that Lewis wasn't yet toast, and he had Joe Thomas, Eric Steinbach, and Lawrence Vickers around to block for him. Ronnie Brown was supposed to be paired with him, but by the time Brown was lost for the season, I had picked up Ryan Grant in his mega-breakout. So I was relying on a late flier on the Browns plus a free agent pickup to get a decent job done at RB. Marshall and Holmes were two breakout-potential picks, and both panned out spectacularly well. Hines Ward and Fitzgerald were really safe picks, and Welker was a week 1 pickup. (I think I drafted Stallworth, because I wanted "Patriots WR 2" but it wasn't clear that Welker would be the main guy until late preseason/week 1.)

Honestly, I got greedy in my draft with that team, trying to get non-RB stars like Manning Fitz and Gates, and I would have struggled mightily if I hadn't picked up Grant. Also, I didn't really need Fitz that much because I was great on WR depth. In retrospect, I should have taken a good RB high up in the draft.

                      • Oh yeah i remember Jesse Chatman! He was LT's backup in San Diego for a while before Turner/Sproles.

I know about Jamal Lewis in 2007. I went Browns-heavy (Edwards, Winslow, and Lewis) in one league that year.

I remember Welker in 2006. In our league here I had drafted Chris Chambers fairly high and was like WTF? when Welker came out of nowhere in Miami that year to lead the team receiving. A little surprised he was a week 1 pickup in 2007 and wasn't drafted.
