  • Well the guy who's raging is a newcomer who I believe is friends with the other party in the trade. However, I don't think collusion is being suspected. I think the guy getting Finley wasn't aware of Finley's status. I noticed that ESPN didn't update the fantasy info on Finley until Wednesday even though Finley went on IR on Monday so this may be a case of taking advantage of a less informed player, rather than collusion. The owner who wanted Finley is active enough though. He picks up free agents every week, is one of the few guys actively trading, etc. so he really should know better though.

I guess the League Manager and the other owners feel that trades must be balanced and there is the problem of it being tough to set a line on what's too one-sided. The fact that Finley is on IR adds an extra level of strangeness.

I mean if someone traded Laurence Maroney for Adrian Peterson... but where do you draw the line?

I think also people are getting worked up because this guy who is getting Orton has a nice squad with Chris Johnson, SJAX, Best, Hakeem Nicks, Miles Austin, Dallas Clark... but he has Matt Ryan at QB. Getting Orton would make him the best team in our league.

But I don't think sake of competition is a valid reason to veto a trade.

Oh and the guy trading away Orton has Eli Manning as his starter (whom I traded to him). One could argue, he is giving up his top QB for nothing but that's up to his own assessment, not anyone else's.

Gonzo is blah... Jason Witten has vanished... Shockey continues to be irrelevant since he left the Giants... Same for Kellen Winslow since he left the Browns...

This might be a changing of the guard thing going on at TE. Guys like Dustin Keller, Zach Miller, Brandon Pettigrew, Aaron Hernandez, and Tony Moeaki are the emerging TE's.

The only thinkg I find odd is that there's no QB being returned. Does the guy with Orton/Eli have a QB3? If so, who? If not, he's either incredibly stupid or is trying to help his buddy. Personally, to give up Orton, I'd have to see a true WR1 starter (which SSmith is NOT this year) coming back.

Remind me to publish a rule for IDP -- Players on IR may not be traded. (Hell, they shouldn't even be rostered.)

Umm... you misread. The guy giving up Orton is not getting SSmith... he's giving him! Mike Wallace would be the WR he is getting out of that trade. Yeah. It's pretty damn one-sided. His other QB is Cutler. He has Eli, Cutler, and Orton. Really, Mike Tolbert and Reggie Bush have about the same value... it's essentially Mike Wallace for Orton and Steve Smith (CAR). I can understand the concern but I wonder if a veto is truly appropriate.

Oh and this just in... Dallas Clark out for season. Who even is the Colts backup TE? I know they don't have Ben Utecht anymore.

              • I must admit, I'd be tempted to push for veto. It's incredibly one-sided.

Dallas Clark has been one of the few consistent performers on my woeful IDP team.

                • So does Jacob Tamme who has had no catches this year and only 6 in his career suddenly have fantasy value or will the Colts just not bring a TE on the field?

                  • He has some value. Peyton can make anyone look good in that scheme.

I agree with your analysis of what the trade boils down to, and I think that it's a very one-sided trade that I would likely veto.

Dallas Clark isn't really a TE. But I think Tamme has to get on the field simply because there's nobody else.

I guess the question is formation then; does garcon or gonzo come back on in a different formation?

Joseph Addai will miss several weeks... Donald Brown has a hammy problem... Austin Collie could miss several weeks, as well. Peyton Manning has been here before with depleted everything but with the Colts 3rd in the AFC South and only one game ahead of Jacksonville (not to mention 0-2 in their division), it's going to be an uphill battle for him.

I don't know if Tamme will see the field much though. The Colts would probably just come out with all WR's.

Anthony Gonzalez can't come back soon enough.

Do you really want another primo TE?
