Fantasy Football Consolation Bracket

This is for the IDP league.

There has been a request from a few players to do a consolation league. I'm more than willing to do it, as all it is is a bit of database work.

Here are the rules I would like to propose. Changes, suggestions, comments would be welcome.

1. Same scoring as previous according to yahoo. Essentially what I will do is take the yahoo player scores, as yahoo will track them past week 13, and compile them into player totals at the end of play on Tuesday morning.

2. Each player will either post in the thread their starting lineup or pm their lineup to me. I will post lineups when I receive them. If a player does not submit a starting lineup, I will use the one from the week previous.

3. Starting lineups are due by 9:59 AM PST or 12:59 PM EST. If I get a lineup after that, i will use the one previous from the week before. Unlike Yahoo, you need to have all your players set before opening kickoff on sunday.

4. Injuries. If a player is injured prior to the game, and I hear of it, and the player is not switched out before the game, I will swap in the next highest projected player in the appropriate slot, if there is one available.

5. No waiver wire transactions permitted. The players you have prior to the thursday two weeks from today are the players you've got for the rest of the way.

5. Love wow rule. If Duke O York is not here or doesn't play or doesn't contribute in any meaningful fashion, I will take over his team. Love wow will be permitted to do waiver wire transactions, IE, I will try to pick players that according to my judgement will fill the empty slots on his team.

6. Format, 8 man no byes, single elimination.

Week 1: 7 vs 14, 8 vs 13, 9 vs 12, 10 vs 11
Week 2: Winner A vs Winner D Winner B vs Winner C; Loser A vs Loser D, Loser B vs Loser C
Week 3: Winner AD vs Winner BC, Loser AD vs Loser BC; WinnerDA vs Winner CB; Loser DA vs Loser CB

we've always played (here and ffz) open waiver wire for everyone involved in play offs. I understand some people prefer limiting it to the championship bracket teams but we haven't made that change yet.

I will participate in Yahoo only. I will not cowtow to a quasi-random set of changed rules for the meaningless title of best non-playoff qualifier.

I promise to make sufficient waiver wire transactions to disqualify myself if necessary.

Ben, I know your intention here is positive, but the fact is that exactly zero people hav e expressed an interest in you running a secondary playoff bracket. Berz posted that it 'no consolation tier' seemed to be the case, and I posted that it seems to be true. NO ONE who is likely to miss the playoffs has said "gee, we must do something about this."

You are, of course, free to do as you will, but it is not part of the IDP league. And I will not be participating.

It could be doable. Everything in here is negotiable. I am just throwing out some ideas here.

One way to do waivers is to simply post in the thread when you add or drop. It's extra work for me, but if people really want waivers we can have them.

How do you suggest waivers be done when I'm doing them by hand? I don't see how, unless people make requests in the threads off the 'waiver pools' with Yahoo. I'm willing to do that if people really want waivers.

Lineups due at non-standard times?

What we have at yahoo being able to add and drop players while the games are going on is not going to work if I'm doing it by hand. I don't see how roster submissions before kickoff is that great a deal.

Ben making roster changes?

Only in the case where say you submit your roster on thursday and the friday announcement states that said player is going to be out for the game. If people don't want roster changes, then fine. You get an injury or an injured player from last week as you don't get your submission in, I can live with that.

Less work for me.

What do you suggest we do? Give 7 a bye, and auto-assign DOY 14th? I'm fine with that actually, like I said everything here is negotiable.

This is lots of extra work for me, and if your attitude is to take a **** on me, why bother? I'm doing this for your benefit, since last I checked you weren't a playoff team. This way you get more interesting games, and a chance for your team to really prove where it stands.

Hmm, raises an interesting question. I can take the other league waiver acquisitions into account. There's maybe 10 or so in a given week.

my mistake, yahoo wont recognize a consolation bracket so people in our informal system wouldn't be able to use the waiver wire once yahoo updates the last weeks results. As for the informal consolation bracket, if I'm in it, I'll post my team.
