          • Being nice about the USA:

Deserved group winners, having scored the goals, and especially for their awesome comeback against Slovenia.
They played really well in the second half today, and always looked like a threat going forward. Kingson may have to be added to the decent players thread after keeping them out. What is it about Ghanaian surnames? Prince, Kingson, and Asamoah. May well rechristen myself Prince Asamoah o' york if they can beat Uruguay in the next round.

I fully expect that some European teams will be picking up American players from MLS this summer, and although this may weaken your domestic league temporarily (until you give young players the chance to shine at the highest level instead of replacing them with European/South American has-beens), it will strengthen the national team no end, which is probably a good thing for most of you who couldn't give a toss about your local team/national league. I was disappointed to see Onyewu go out, as an ex-Toon player, but the only current Toon player at the World Cup looks likely to reach the final at least.

It's the Daily Star, what else would you expect?

                        • Oh well, we gave it a good shot.

Now I can go back to not caring about soccer for another 4 years.

                          (Edit: maybe two)
