I actually think those might have been the best two players at that point in the draft, if you are not highly risk-averse.

It may well not be a serious injury, but any injury is enough to keep some people away.

Yep, Utley is undoubtedly a 1st round. IIRC, I took him as my 1st round pick last year and won 1st place .

In my FFZ league (10 players) I took Utley in the 1st and got Pujols in the 2nd - he dropped that far because of elbow/arm concerns during last year's pre-season I guess

Certainly no Yanks love here. Somehow as I was crunching numbers it didn't even dawn on me they were both Yankees till I posted my picks. Haha.

Actually I figured I should pick up a pitcher, so I looked at the stats for the top 5 pitchers available. Johan had the best ERA and QS, but I was drawn in by CC's high strike outs and K/BB. *shrug* I'm still not entirely sure how the scoring is done through the season, but I decided to go with CC. I didn't even remember Santana's health issues, good thing I made the "right" choice anyhow.

I did a similar comparison between the top available hitters. Went with Teix despite his very low SB stat. I figured being with New York couldn't hurt.

but I suggest y'all click those little newspaper icons next to player's names, they give you information about the player. Santana's fine, just some tenderness coming out of the winter lay off. He's a workhorse

I always knew it wasn't. I thought they had changed it on me or something.

Oh, and personally I always shudder at taking a 1B that early (unless it's someone like Pujols), so that's why I was thinking Yanks fan .

Imran is referring to the fact that 1B can be bought for discount rates usually because there are so many good hitting 1Bs.

However, I think Teix was a good choice anyway - he's better than most of the other 1Bs (I'd actually take him over Howard or Cabrera in this league).

I'm going with the "value" picks early on (Reyes at SS, Pedroia at 2B). I remember it backfired on me a few years back when I was left with a lackluster OF. But we'll see what happens.
