Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead
The point is that Washington (of all schools) was so close.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

This was after the 2006 game with ND, where ND came back from down 21 in a monsoon to win 40-37. This was the game during which Kirk Herbstreit famously said "and this is why you're Michigan State," as MSU imploded. This is the game after which John L Smith, MSU's coach, slapped himself in a press conference in reference to a brawl during the game. This ultimately led to his firing. It was a memorable game for all sorts of reasons.
This picture refers to MSU's habit under John L Smith of planting their flag on the 50 yard line of a defeated opponent. In 2005, MSU beat ND at Notre Dame stadium and proceeded to plant their flag at the 50 yard line. This wasn't taken too kindly by the Fighting Irish. So the Irish won the 2006 game, and the MSU players thought that ND would plant its flag on MSU's 50 yard line in retaliation. They had to defend it!
ND's players laughed and headed home.

By the way, this is one of those very weird series, where the away team usually wins. The reason for this is a mystery.

Well, that last bit of the LSU/Auburn game was frustrating. Still, the spread offense is ahead of schedule and if we can keep the depth on both sides up, next year might be real good as far as national title contention is concerned.
Isn't it about time to start Top Tens?

We?! How in the Hell are you an Auburn fan? How many teams do you actually follow?

Shall we talk Top 20? Clearly dominated by SEC, and Big 12 making a good representation. Not that I'm surprised.

I wonder if they will change the nickname of Tennessee from "The Volunteer State" to "The Commodore State"?

I've been an Auburn fan since before the screwjob. I've always backed the SEC in general, but Auburn's been my team for college pigskin for a good long while.
