Pavlyuchenko is okay in that he knows how to receive and handle those long balls, but he missed a lot of scoring opportunities. Jesus Christ! In the previous matches he missed a ****load of chances as well. Luckily Arshavin played today. There's no denying: that fella is going to be one of the top players of the world in a few years.
You can't be serious. Russia played a great game. Russia had an awful lot of scoring chances today. Holland was powerless today, despite having played very well in the first three matches.
It's a cliché, but in a big tournament, the team that plays really well in the opening games never wins the tournament. It's usually teams like Italy, playing like a bunch of old grannies, that end up with the cup.
Russia was good? I really don't think so.
Holland played a bad game for sure, but the russians really did not impress me.
And what was up with the ref withholding the second yellow card for Kovalev (or whatever his name) in the 90th minute? That was a really cheap move
In all: a pity the Dutch didn't advance to the next phase, and I think it's van Basten to blame, who tried to put the Dutch team into the position of underdog (at least in the Dutch press) while he should have played from the strength that was showed in the first three games. No pressure on the Russians
Oh, and the fans in the stadium Did anybody hear the Dutch? If you go to a game, cheer for your team, don't wait untill they are ahead in the game
