The San Jose bloggers and media are calling for Flames' suspensions (Phaneuf and Sarich) for the hits on Marleau in that game, and many are blaming the reffing for their loss.
Hello? Calgary was the one who spent half of the 2nd period in Game 2 on the powerplay with many questionable calls (and some deserved). San Jose even got a golden opportunity on a questionable call to tie up the game at the end here and couldn't come through.
Not to mention, both of those hits were clean...Marleau just needs to keep his head up."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

The Sarich hit was perfectly clean. It was from the front and it was clearly a shoulder, not an elbow. It was not into the boards, but instead parallel to them.
Marleau does need to learn to keep his head up, but props to him for getting up right away from that, and good non-call from the referees.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

Here's a classic thread backfire: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=505250

All the gloating about the Flames choking, and then the awesome end."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

It did make for amusing reading though when the Habs came back from that 0-5 defecit against the RangersResident Filipina Lady Boy Expert.

You guys see Avery "screening" Brodeur? What a douche.
to Drury for skating over to Avery and telling him to knock it off, while they were on the PP.
"I've been watching games for 33 years and I have never seen anything like that in my life," Brodeur said. "If it's within the rules, it's within the rules. The official came over and said it probably wasn't something that should be done."
"Nobody should have to play hockey with a stick an inch from your face," Brodeur said. "But it wasn't a bad play. While he was doing it, I couldn't see anything. The two misses were just luck, I couldn't see a thing."
"I'm trying to get to the puck, it's a five-on-three," Brodeur said. "I'm trying to just look around and it's almost impossible because his stick's so close to my face and his hands. ... I think this kind of behavior in front of the net isn't really something that should be done.""The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. That should have been a game misconduct to Avery. The stick over the head is a physical threat.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

San Jose has very little to complain about on the penalty front-- I saw TWO separate holding the stick incidents where they could have easily been called-- and both were right in front of me
and heck the Flames only got TWO powerplays and both San Jose fouls were pretty obvious -- (one was when Sarich got mugged after the much talked about hit)You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

But lets take his tactic a little further-- IMagine instead of a stick he "merely" kept waving an arm 6 inches in front of a keeper's nose-- I don't know any rule that prevents THAT-- Heck , it would just be an extension of a "normal" screen in some senses--
If people don't like this tactic, we may have to see the league quickly step in and tell people that intentionally waving a stick at eye level will be considered slashing. otherwise, I would bet we will see it in other games starting almost immediately
BUt if they do away with the stick swinging type, what do you do if people start using their arms instead and just start waving them like crazy inches from a goalies nose? Billie Smith would have had the answer I bet!!Last edited by Flubber; April 14, 2008, 13:18.You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
