According to the Bracket Matrix, Syracuse is indeed a 4 seed right now. The teams currently on the dreaded 5 line are UCLA, Gonzaga, Clemson and Illinois.
They also currently have North Carolina, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Connecticut on the 1 line. I think Connecticut ultimately drops to the 2 line in favor of Louisville. There's no way they can justify leaving Louisville off the 1 line if they win both the regular season and conference Big East titles, and Pittsburgh is definitely ahead of Connecticut because of their season sweep of the Huskies.CGN | a bunch of incoherent nonsense

Less than 24 hours to go. Here's some quick stats on each of the big eight conferences from the Bracket Matrix:
ACC: Seven bids, with Maryland the very last of the at-larges in on the 11 line. The first team currently out is Creighton from the Missouri Valley. It's actually a pretty tough call for me between the two of them, so I leave it as an exercise for you guys to compare the profiles.
Big East: Seven bids, with Providence looking pretty definitively out of the running. The worst of the seven teams to make it in is Marquette on the 7 line, which is a testamount to the quality of the conference at its top end this year.
Big Ten: Currently projected to lead all conferences with eight bids, including three of the last five at-large entries. I think seven is a more likely number, with Penn State ultimately getting squeezed out in favor of a team like Creighton or St. Mary's from the WCC. Penn State's profile doesn't read as favorably to me as Maryland's does.
(EDIT: And sure enough, with the early morning update, Creighton is now the last at-large in and Penn State is projected to be bubble-burst.)
Big 12: They've been locked in at six bids for a while now. Baylor would have made it seven if they could have pulled off the upset against Missouri today, but alas, not to be.
Pacific-10: USC's surprise tournament title means that the Pac-10 will get five bids rather than the four originally expected, with Arizona being among the first four out, ending its qualification streak at 24. USC's ranking is expected to be on the 12 line, worse than at least two other auto-bids from minor conferences (Siena & Utah State).
SEC: The shock of the tournament - if Mississippi State fails to win the SEC tournament tomorrow, the SEC is projected to get only two bids, in LSU & Tennessee. South Carolina, Florida and Auburn all look like they're going to end up on the wrong side of the bubble line. We knew the league was bad this year, but I didn't think it'd be this bad.
A-10: Three bids thanks to Temple's tournament title win today. I'm hoping Dayton goes on a run in the tournament, as I really felt they deserved to be there last year and they ended up getting screwed majorly by the tournament committee.
Mountain West: Three bids as well. Utah got the tournament title win, but San Diego State looks like it's done enough to get in.
And just as an update from yesterday: Xavier and Arizona State have joined UCLA and Illinois on the dreaded 5 line. Gonzaga moved up to the 4 line, while Clemson was moved down to the 6 line.Last edited by reismark; March 15, 2009, 12:34.CGN | a bunch of incoherent nonsense

Forgive me for maybe asking something already posted, but has anyone here formed a "friendly" (RE: No monetary involvement) bracket?
I could organize one real quickly today and we could sign people up, just asking, I am in several, lots of fun to see grown people cry over busted brackets
(plus the associated, we got ripped off, unfair advantages, blown calls, ect...or my favorite..wait til next year.......
Thanks
